10 Reasons to Rent a Villa in Paphos, Cyprus

The coastal town of Paphos is one of the most popular holiday destinations on the travel market. It is located in the southwest of Cyprus, close to the Mediterranean cost, and possesses a rich history as the Greek Goddess Aphrodite's mythical birthplace. It was also selected as a European Capital of Culture in 2007 by UNESCO.

If you're looking to rent a luxury villa in a relaxing yet vibrant coastal town, there is no better holiday location than Paphos. Read on to discover why this idyllic area of Cyprus should be your next destination of choice:

1– The weather: The town enjoys a subtropical climate with minimal rainfall during the summer seasons. Heat waves during July and August are common, making it the perfect destination for beach sun bathing and soaking up the rays.

2– It's great for out of season travel: A Cyprian Autumn is sometimes referred to as the island's 'second summer', so even travelling during the colder British months could result in a sun-kissed glow. What better way to escape the changes of the turning season by visiting somewhere warm?

3 — The beaches: there are a number of idyllic beaches in Cyprus, with clear water and great weather for the majority of the year. Coral Bay is one of the highest rated sandy beaches in the area and facilitates outdoor swimming. There are also sun loungers and umbrellas for hire, as well as a bar on the beach itself.

4– Historical landmarks: The town is well known for its cultural and historical landmarks. In fact, it is on the World Cultural Heritage List. Travellers are encouraged to visit Old Paphos, one of the most celebrated places of pilgrimage in the Ancient Greek world.

Other recommended sites include the Tomb of the Kings, Paphos Castle, the mosaics in the Houses of Dionysus and a number of stunning churches. The city also contains many catacomb sites dating back to the early Christian period.

5– Fun activities: if you're looking for an adventure holiday, there are a number of ways to get fresh air in your lungs, including excursions into nearby towns and heritage sites, Coral Bay go-karting, water sports, boat rental and more.

6– Peyia village: this adorable village is located on the southwestern tip of Cyprus, situated mainly on the steep slopes of the coastal hills of Coral Bay. Peyia offers a number of cafes and restaurants, and is the main tourist spot with beautiful, tranquil beaches. It is just fifteen minutes by road from Paphos.

7– Outdoors swimming: the weather is pleasant enough, and the seas are clear and clean enough, to enjoy outdoor swimming during the summer months. What's more, most beaches are manned by professional lifeguards during swimming season, so enjoying the cool waves of the ocean couldn't be safer.

8 — Indoor facilities: if you don't fancy swimming in the sea, why not see if you can rent a villa with an outdoor pool? Some travel agencies will offer accommodation that comes fully equipped with lifeguards and even an outdoor bar. This is worth looking into if you're travelling outside of swimming season, as most pools are heated.

9– Food and drink: Cyprus is famous for its food and drink scene. So, not only will you be able to enjoy delicious, locally sourced Greek food — such as crumbling feta cheese and plump, juicy tomatoes — you can tuck in whilst taking in the amazing coastal views.

10– Beautiful rental properties: there is a large amount of choice when it comes to accommodation in the area, including various luxury apartments and villas in idyllic beachside locations. To find the perfect villa for you, research local travel agencies in the area, and see just why Paphos in Cyprus is such a popular holiday destination.
