Rajasthan is a land of unique architectures, breathtaking dunes, and some of the oldest villages in India. Here's a list of places to visit in the state one must visit.

Jaisalmer

Right in the heart of Thar, lies the gorgeous Jaisalmer. Also known as the “Golden City”, this place is known for its striking sand dunes, rich culture, and huge havelis. It is named after Maharaja Jaisal Singh, and interestingly, the aerial view of the city is like an image of a king sitting on the ridge of sand dunes, crowned by the fort. Jaisalmer has been attracting not only Indians, but also many travelers and culture lovers from across the world. The city also hosts annual Desert Festival between January to February, where you can witness the real charm of Jaisalmer.

Jaipur

Also known as the “Pink City”, Jaipur is one of the most popular tourist destinations not only in Rajasthan, but across the nation. Named after Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, Jaipur was founded in 1727. There's a long list of tourist attractions like palaces, lakes, forts, and other monuments that tourists can explore. From the popular Hawa Mahal to the spectacular Nahargarh Fort, there' so much for travelers to witness.

Best time to visit: All through the year, avoid summer months as the days are hot.

Alwar

Founded by Pratap Singh in 1770 , Alwar is a heaven for history lovers. The city is known for its various battles and the popular and haunted Bhangarh fort. The place is a perfect example of a balanced ecology with its abundant flora and fauna.

Udaipur
