5 Unique Things of Da Lat, City of Thousands of Flowers in Vietnam

Da Lat is chosen as a destination for different reasons. However, 5 following special things will make a great impression on tourists.

No traffic lights

Different from Saigon and Hanoi, where are usually in the state of traffic jams; Da Lat will make local people and tourists feel more relaxed because they almost never deal with this state. At the present, there are not any traffic lights at cross roads. Therefore, tourists can freely ride bikes or motorbikes admiring dreamlike beauty of Da Lat.

To explain this phenomenon, it is said that Da Lat has the mountainous terrace with various tortuous slopes, thus, it is quite inconvenient, even dangerous to stop bikes at crossroads. In addition, the number of vehicles in the city is limited; therefore it may be regarded as a waste when installing traffic lights here.

4 seasons in 1 day

With the temperate climate, Da Lat owns a cool atmosphere; the highest temperature is 31°C and the lowest is down to 5°C. That is the reason why in summer, the number of domestic and foreign tourists has been increasingly rising. In reality, many of them desire to escape from intensely hot air.

In Da Lat, if in the morning, the weather is like in spring with a bit cold weather and a blanket of fog covering the city; the sun climbs high in the sky and sunlight penetrates everywhere at noon, which is similar to the weather of summer.

When the sun goes down, there appears bitterly cold wind blasts and at mid-night, the silence of the night occupies the space; the temperature is at the lowest level, turning the weather into cold winter.

Here the rainy season lasts from May to late October; the rest period is in dry season. In theory, Da Lat has the two main seasons but it makes people feel that it comes into 4 seasons in one day.

Maple forest

Coming to Da Lat, you can see and explore maple forest in Tuyền Lam lake. It is quite hard to find out the road to this forest. To find out the maple forest, tourists need to paddle a boat across Tuyền Lam lake, then walk a long distance before entering the forest. However, to ensure the security, you should seek the help of local people. If you are a nature lover, sparkling maple leaves in the sunshine will certainly become an unforgettable memory in your life.

Lavender fields

One more interesting thing is that tourists will easily see a variety of flowers, especially lavender, known as a typical kind of Provence, France. As usual, the lavender appears in European countries; but now, entering Vạn Thanh flower village, you will have occasions to admire the beauty of lavender in the garden of 1,000 square meters.

This precious garden is built by a local person called Le Tiến Thanh, who have failed in working out the method enabling lavender adapt to the climate of Da Lat many times. You can visit this flower anytime all the year around because lavender is not the flower by season.

Huge pumpkin garden

The garden belongs to a man named Le Hữu Phan and is one of favorite destinations in Da Lat. In harvest season, the largest fruit weighs up to 60 kilogram and the smallest one is about 30 kilogram. A considerable number of tourists get a surprise when witnessing pumpkin fruits which are so large that hands of several people cannot embrace. This tree grows rather fast and its trunk is as big as the size of three fingers.

The total area of the garden of Mr. Phan is about 4,000 square meters and the pumpkin covers the area of 200 square meters. His farm is in Hồ Xuan Hương street; besides huge pumpkin, many other fruits and vegetables are grown here such as black tomatoes, cabbage and onions. He would like to utilize the area of 1,000 square meters to plant unique trees.
