Unusual holidays
Spain is not only a country that attracts tourists from all the corners of the world with its impressive cultural, artistic, architectural and historical heritage; it also attracts gourmets from all over the world with its absolutely spectacular cuisine. Who hasn't heard about the delicious tapas? When you enter a bar or a pub, the first thing you see is the impressive number of those small plates that come in different flavors, depending on the ingredients they contain. They can be made of pretty much everything and some of them contain completely opposite ingredients; even if they do, it seems like the Spaniards found the recipe for how to make them perfectly go together. Wouldn't a tapas tour sound like something very entertaining and educating? I am saying this because the Spanish tapas are not just a traditional dish; they are actually a way of life.
Short incursion into the life of the tapas
''El tapeo'' is how the Spaniards name this going out for eating tapas; however this tapas does not mean just having something to eat, it is also a way of creating new relationships and surpassing the boundaries imposed by age or occupation. It is the easiest way to socialize with the people that surround you every day. If you are interested in finding out how the tapas appeared, then you should know that it all started in Andalusia in the 19th century. Tapas were then used to accompany the drinking of the sherry or the wine. They were at the beginning only slices of jamon, olives or even almonds used with the direct purpose of protecting the drinks from the disturbing flies. Now, look what it has grown into!
Going on a trip
It is absolutely fascinating how the tradition of the tapas is alive and even growing in every little corner of Spain. Starting with the capital Madrid, continuing with the modern Barcelona and finishing with traditional cities such as San Sebastian ferienhaus costa blanca , everywhere you look you will see a tapas bar waiting for you. Even though the cities are completely different form one another in terms of aspect, cultural heritage, history or traditions, the tapas are always present and it will be long until they will disappear. Since you took the decision to go on such a trip, make sure that you taste as many types of tapas as possible because there are hundreds of them. Bon appetit!
