A Guide to Shopping on Virgin Gorda

Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands is a beautiful island paradise with pristine beaches offering a variety of activities both on land and in the water. You may find yourself overwhelmed with a need to decompress with some shopping therapy. Or perhaps you'd like a memento of your vacation. Or perhaps you just need batteries. Regardless of your reasoning, you should definitely check out some of the fabulous shops on Virgin Gorda, each with a friendly and helpful staff.

• Blue Banana: Located at the Virgin Gorda Yacht Club, you'll find tropical gifts, clothing, and home decor.

• Buck's Market: Great place for provisions. Bucks, at the Yacht Club, offers everything from fresh produce and seafood or steak to pharmaceuticals, Cuban cigars, wine and liquor.

• BVI Apparel: Located at the Yacht Club, BVI Apparel offers a wide range of clothing, included embroidered and printed items.

• Dive BVI Store: Locations at Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour, Leverick Bay, and Scrub Bay, this dive shop offers a wide range of products as well as dive and snorkel equipment repairs and rentals.

• Fat Virgin's Treasures: Located in the North Sound at Bira's Creek Resort, this gift shop has it all. The owner, Virgin Islands native Esther Wheatley, is a graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York City. She brings her design knowledge into this trendy boutique without leaving behind her Caribbean roots. Expect to find metal sculptures, pottery, stained glass, moko jumbie dolls, along with clothing, accessories, books, and other one-of-a-kind souvenirs. While you're here, grab lunch in the casual-dining cafe which features a “Caribbean fusion” menu.

• Kaunda's Kysy Tropix: Located at the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour at The Valley, Kaunda's is a full-service camera shop which offers disposable underwater cameras, batteries, mini-laptops, music, memory cards, and, of course, cameras.

• Margo's Boutique: This Virgin Gorda Yacht Club shop offers a variety of elegant jewelry pieces, including red coral, pearl, and 22k gold. You can also find unique items, such as hand-batik sarongs from Bali and hand-block print sarongs from India.

• Nauti Virgin Beachtique: A clothing boutique located at The Valley featuring swimwear and resort wear as well as island-made items and crafts.

• Nauti Virgin Too: Found at Andy's Chateau, this upscale boutique offers jewelry, resort wear, swimwear, and accessories.

• Thee Artistic Gallery: Located at the Yacht Harbour complex, this chic shop provides a stunning array of local art, leather bags, Caribbean and nautical-themed jewelry, and fine crystal pieces.
