Johannesburg is located in the mineral-rich Witwatersrand range of hills and is the centre of gold and diamond trade. The city itself was established in 1886 after the discovery of gold on a farm. Soweto, which is now a part of Johannesburg, is an acronym for “South-Western Townships”. Lenasia, a part of Soweto, has English speaking South Africans of Indian descent. The observation deck on the 50th floor of the Carlton Center offers the city layout. The Museum Africa has a large collection of rock art. The Gold Reef City is a theme park which offers a depiction of the gold mining life with an underground mine tour. There is a popular Tribal Dancing show along with a large amusement park for the tourists to linger on.
