Adventure Sports to Participate Near Jim Corbett National Park

As the oldest national park in the country, the Jim Corbett National Park is a symbol of ecological conservation in India. The park is in Nainital, Uttarakhand and is named after the famous wildlife enthusiast, Jim Corbett. Incredibly popular among nature lovers, there are resorts in Corbett National Park where visitors can stay and experience life in the jungle. Here are a few adventure activities to participate when you are visiting this fabulous reserve:

Fishing and Angling: There are plenty of fishes in the two rivers – the Ramganga and the Kosi that flow through the national park. Some of the common types of fish found here are Goonch, Silver, and Black Masheer. Fishing is not allowed inside the park, but visitors are free to fish in the water bodies that dot the nearby areas.

River Rafting: The exquisite and undulating topography offered by the Garhwali Himalayas make river rafting an ideal adventure sport in the region. Although it is a sport that requires guidance and some equipment, one can learn rafting easily and form a group to seek wild adventures alone by yourselves.

Rock Climbing: Climbing natural rock formations is a popular attraction here and there are many tourists which engage in rock climbing. This adventure sport requires quite a lot of physical strength besides mental attributes like patience and motivation. Injuries sustained can be fatal if proper safety precautions are not observed.

Mountain Biking: This activity requires specially designed bicycles which can be used to navigate over rough and rocky mountainous terrain. Parts of the landscape around Corbett National Park are ideal for mountain biking thanks to the rocky and uneven nature of the land here.

Rappelling: Tourists who stay in luxury resorts in Jim Corbett National Park often engage in rappelling as it is one of the most popular adventures sports here. It basically involves slowly descending along a steep slope with the help of a rope and a clip. Rappelling can be quite a thrilling experience, especially when you are descending from a considerable height.

Nature Trek: Just the good old way of exploring nature on your feet is quite an adventure in these parts with the interesting mix of flora and fauna that you can encounter. Nature treks are organized daily with different difficulties of treks from which visitors can choose from.

Widely considered to be among the best national parks in the country, this establishment holds significant historical importance as it was the first of its kind in all of Asia. The entire park is spread over an area spanning over 512 square kilometers and even has two huge rivers, the Ramganga and the Kosi flowing through it.
