Amsterdam Do not Miss this Beautiful City on Your Next Visit to Europe

Booking of Amsterdam flights can be heavy, so if you would like to visit the beautiful city of Amsterdam, make an early booking. Discover Amsterdam, one of the greatest small cities in the world. It is a city famous for its canals, museums and historical sites; a city where you can walk around and discover the dozens of museums, galleries, cafes and shops. If you get tired en route you can always hop on to one of the city's easy and frequent tram services. Amsterdam has a range of hotels to choose from. From the boutique hotel college which once was a school, to the stylish Notting Hill Amsterdam which is centrally located. A couple of good 4 star hotels are the Moevenpick Amsterdam City and The Best Western Blue Square ideal for families and couples. Hotel Fashion offers a taste of luxury, while the Park Plaza Vondelpark will give you a taste of tranquility; it is located close to the famous Vondelpark.

When you visit another country it is important to try the local cuisine. Amsterdam has several great restaurants and cafes which serve up traditional Dutch delicacies. Some of the special dishes include Bitterballen, Spekdik and Frikandel. Art lovers can have their fill of art in the many galleries and museums in Amsterdam – a city that was home to some world famous artists such as Van Gogh and Rembrandt. The Rijksmuseum is one of the world's best museums – it was reopened in April 2013. The museum exhibits 8000 works by prominent artists such as Vermeer, Rembrandt and van Ruysdael. The Van Gogh Museum and Stedelik Museum are also must-see attractions in Amsterdam. Theatre goers have it good as there are regular theatre performances including 'kleinkunst' which is a form of cabaret combined with storytelling, music and humor. On the music front one can enjoy a mixture of music genres across the city. The Heineken Music Hall has regular programs and you can enjoy a traditional Jazz evening at the Bimhuis. Classical music lovers too can have their fill at the Concertgebouw which is known for its spectacular acoustics the world over.

Amsterdam is a city of diversity and tolerance. Though small in size it offers all the advantages of a big city with regard to culture, nightlife, good transport and international restaurants. Because of the extensive canals, Amsterdam experiences very limited road traffic. Besides walking, bicycling is another popular way to move around. Another slice of history you can treat yourself to is a visit to Prinsengracht 263, a 17th century canal side house where the Jewish family of Anne Frank lived during World War II. The family went into hiding in this house and they were helped by friends to survive. It is in this house that Anne Frank wrote her famous diary converted into a book which has sold millions of copies. With all these wonderful sights, historical art and information to enjoy, no wonder Amsterdam flights are among the frequently booked flights in any travel agency.
