An Insight Into Ranthambore National Park

If it is the cry, scream, screech or the chirping of the wild animals and birds that you are interested in, then you will be able to enjoy this and much more if you visit the Ranthambore National Park that is located in the Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan in Northern India. This park is considered to be one of the most popular hunting grounds of the Jaipur Maharajas and is the biggest as well as the most prominent national parks of Northern India. The rich flora and fauna has tempted many wildlife photographs as well as wild life enthusiasts to visit this famous national Park in India.

The Ranthambore National Park boasts of a wide variety of animals, reptiles and birds and you will be able to see the famous diurnal tigers, leopards, sambar deer, Indian wild boar, chinkara, jackals, macaques, Indian porcupines, flying foxes, sloth bears, mongooses and civets. Some of the reptiles that you can spot at this famous National Park are: tortoise, cobras, Indian chameleon, Indian pythons, Russell Vipers, desert monitor lizards, marsh crocodiles and so on. Ranthambore National Park is also famous for the varieties of residential and migrant birds that can be seen because of its varied terrain as well as the easy availability of huge water bodies. Some of the common bird types that you can sight in Ranthambore are: woodpeckers, kingfishers, parakeets, flamingos, pelicans, herons, gray hornbills, eagles, storks, sandpipers, flycatchers, egrets and many more.

The Ranthambore national Park will be open to visitors from the beginning of the October month till the end of month of June and the park will be closed for visitors for the rest of the months (July to September). The park also offers Safari tour packages for their visitors and you can either use a 20 seater open canter truck or a six seater open jeep to travel the length and breadth of the park to get a glimpse of its natural wildlife. You have the option of either going for a morning safari trip or an evening safari trip inside the dense jungle of the National Park.
