Baggage Allowance Rules of Jet Airways

Jet Airways is a private Indian airline. Founded by Mr. Naresh Goyal, this full service carrier provides air-based connectivity to people across India and abroad. It reaches maximum number of destinations after the government owned Air India. Etihad Airways, the premier carrier of the Gulf region, holds a minority equity stake in the Jet Airways and a codeshare agreement which enhances the reach and connectivity of the carrier to hundreds of other destinations across the globe. Jet Airways had taken over the loss making Sahara Airlines and renamed it JetLite. It was merged with Jet Konnect, a low cost carrier of Jet Airways which has been phased out to focus only on full-service services.

One of the most popular methods to know the Jet Airways baggage allowance rules it to make use of the allowance calculators. This is a common way to find out how much are you allowed to carry in cabin or in the check in baggage.

Cabin baggage rules

Jet airways cabin baggage allowance for domestic routes is based on weight concept and you are allowed to carry up to 7 kg per adult or child passenger. The luggage has to be of 55, 35, 25cms on Boeing airplanes and 50, 45, 20cms on ATR airplanes.

Cabin allowance for international flights is based on class of travel. These are 7 kg for Economy, 10 kg for Premiere and First Class with baggage dimensions restricted to 55, 35 and 25cms.

Check in baggage rules

Rules of check in baggage allowance depend on whether you are flying to a country where piece system of luggage allowance is applicable or to the one where weight based system is applicable. Here, some information about checked-in baggage policies relating to interline journeys are provided:

From India to Australia: economy- 30 kg; premiere- 40 kg

Kuala Lumpur to Jeddah: 35 kg including 5 litres of zamzam water

UK to India: economy- 30 kg, premiere- 40 kg and first- 50 kg

India to Europe (excluding London and Brussels), via London, Brussels and Gulf destinations: 30, 40 and 50 kgs respectively for economy, premiere and first class travellers.

Indonesia to India via BKK, Singapore and HK and vice versa: economy 30 kg and premiere 40 kgs.

New Zealand to India: economy 30 kg and premiere 40 kg.

Vietnam to India, via HK, BKK and Singapore: economy 30 kgs and premiere 40 kg.

India to Africa via Abu Dhabi: 30, 40, 50 kgs

India to Kuala Lumpur: 30, 40 kgs. (2 piece not exceeding 30 and 40 kgs respectively)

Besides, there are rules relating to special baggage allowances such as sporting and musical equipments.
