The altitude of Ladakh is high, as it lies at the height of 9,800ft. The primary water source is the winter snowfall that hails on the mountains. The regions situated on the north zone of the Himalayas: Dras, Suru Valley, and Zanskar – face heavy snowfall and for several months, these places do not witness any outside interaction with the rest of the world.
