Best Places to go For Yorkshire Nightlife

Whilst there are plenty of fantastic places to go and things to do in Yorkshire with the kids, sometimes you can get away from them to do something a bit more grown up! Alternatively, you could be a young couple looking for a romantic spot for some drinks, or a group of friends looking for more alcohol-themed tourist attractions in Yorkshire! Whoever you are, if you’re looking for a brilliant place to drink, Yorkshire has a lot of them. Famous for its quaint country pubs, stereotypically full of old men in flat caps and their sheep dogs, there is a lot more to nightlife in Yorkshire than you might expect.

York

York has become something of a destination for drinking, with trainloads of people turning up at weekends (especially race days or Bank Holidays) to go to some of the fantastic pubs and bars the city has to offer. There are also a couple of pub crawls if you want more activities in Yorkshire rather than just sitting in one place. Popular pubs and bars include Evil Eye, famous for its cocktails, House of Trembling Madness, an old-fashioned medieval drinking hall that also sells a range of craft beers and spirits downstairs, and The Stone Roses Bar, an indie music pub with dart boards and pool tables. There are plenty of things to do in Yorkshire when it comes to drinking, especially in one of the county’s most famous and picturesque cities.

Leeds

Leeds regularly ranks highly in the best places to live in the UK and there are plenty of reasons why. The city has a host of fantastic shops, green spaces, markets and a huge number of bars and pubs. From big chains like Wetherspoons and Revolution to small independent pubs like Nation of Shopkeepers, there is plenty of variety to amuse anyone looking for nightlife activities in Yorkshire. There are bars-cum-music venues like Oporto, which hosts regular events featuring local and international songwriters. You could try some very different activities in Yorkshire too at The Great Escape Game, which has a variety of different themed rooms which feature puzzles and clues for groups to solve to escape to the bar and restaurant! For those who love a bit of meat with their pint, Friends of Ham offers an extensive range of charcuterie and cheese alongside fantastic beers and wines.

The rest of the county

There are plenty of fantastic pubs and bars all over the county, with some even tucked away in small villages up on the dales. These pubs have become tourist attractions in Yorkshire themselves, despite being so remote. The Star Inn in Harome near Helmsley is one such small village pub, restaurant and hotel all in one. Its quirky interior and Michelin-starred kitchen have made it one of the biggest tourist attractions in Yorkshire for foodies. However, for tourists looking for more things to do in Yorkshire, this may be a bit too remote. Harrogate is a popular destination for visitors to Yorkshire, and features a few different pubs and bars, including the brilliantly named The Fat Badger. The Fat Badger offers a huge range of local beers and ciders, cocktails and wines, as well as fantastic food, making it a fantastic place to visit.
