Bohol The Friendly Heart of The Visayas

An island surrounded by smaller islands is the province of Bohol, located in the Central Visayas Region of the country. Known for its abundance in the coral reef, and unusual geological formations such as the Chocolate Hills, Bohol has been visited adventurers and is a perfect place for field trips. It also is the home of famed dolphin watching and other diving spots and natural wonders. This rich province in the Philippines offers not only sights that are good for the eyes, but also mouth-watering delicacies that are unquestionably good for the stomach.

They say that the best way to experience a place during a vacation is through the stomach. And so, to experience the greatness of Bohol, here are some of the “Boholano Delicacies” that you'll surely love.

  1. Peanut Kisses – now one of the common pasalubong from Bohol, this product is a signature Boholano recipe and is a best seller. It is a pack of cookies shaped like a miniature of the Chocolate Hills, made of high – quality peanuts and eggs.
  2. Calamay – a concoction of glutinous rice, sugar, coconut milk and some peanuts, calamay is one of a kind. Despite the product's availability across the country today, nothing beats the original calamay from Jagna which was enclosed in a coconut shell and sealed with a red band.
  3. Broa – also known as the Lady Fingers, Broa is a cookie with a soft texture and melts in the mouth. Originated from Baclayon in Bohol, this product is perfect for snacks usually with milk or coffee.
  4. Bibingka – one of the favorite Filipino delicacies, this one from Bohol tastes different compared to the Bibingka from any other place in the country. It is made of rice flour, sugar, butter, and coconut milk served with hot drinks during the morning, and you can pair it with soft drinks in the afternoon.
  5. Maruya – Banana Flitter is a cheap and healthy snack of all times. The Philippines is a good banana producer, and people made a delicious recipe out of it. Using the Saba bananas dipped and fried in a sticky mixture of sugar, maruya or the banana flitters are made.

From the kind heart of the Visayas, one of the popular and attractive tourist destinations in the country, we offer you the bests of Bohol. Come and Visit, and hear the people say “Maayong pag – abot sa Bohol!”
