London Eye

The London Eye, often referred to as the Millennium Wheel, is the tallest Ferris wheel in Europe and the most famous paid tourist attraction with a footfall of more than 3.5 million people annually. It is located on the banks of the River Thames and has a height of 135 meters and a diameter of 120 meters. The giant wheel was inaugurated on December 31 1999 and opened to the public on March 9 2000. It was initially the world's tallest Ferris wheel until surpassed by the 160 meter Star of Nanchang in 2006. The giant wheel included an investment of 70 million British pounds during its construction. The London Eye can be easily reached through the Waterloo underground station, while Westminster and Embankment also exist within the walking distance.
