Delhi – A City Of History, Culture, Cuisines And Future

Delhi is a huge city, the administrative center of the nation, and the historical symbol of the country's progress. This place has seen the signs of inhabitation and civilisation since the 6th century BC and has remained the capital of many kingdoms, dynasties, kings, and rulers. Today, Delhi, often seen through the prism of National Capital Territory, is a vast urban expanse with high rise buildings, millions of people, hundreds of flyovers, umpteen shopping malls, dozens of entertainment and shopping zones, IT parks, and monuments that represent its rich heritage and culture. Today this capital of India is the center of governance and development and is fast developing as a world city. You can find a number of five star and three star Delhi hotels available throughout the city. You would also find a lot of International companies and lifestyle brands have opened their offices and exclusive stores in Delhi. It is a city bustling with high hopes of growth and development.

So far you would have heard of so many historical monuments and sites that are there in this city. Qutub Minar, the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Purana Quila, Cannaught Place, etc. are some of the artifacts that exhibit an excellent show of the architecture that the city witnessed over the thousands of years. From the ancient to the latest, you can witness the transformations of arts, crafts, technology, and trade as you explore the various aspects of this capital city. Not just buildings and monuments of great importance, but the city is also renowned for its cultural diversity. People of all religions can be seen living in Delhi. The number of youths in the city is simply staggering. Although this is the 21st century where modernity rules all aspects of people's lives, a place like the Nizamuddin Dargaah instantly wraps you in a deep sentiment of mysticism and spirituality. Several corners of the city remind you of an aesthetic richness intrinsic to the core of the affairs of this city, without which imagining and understanding Delhi is absolutely incomplete.

Delhi is also famous for its spicy dishes and a variety of street food. Dilli ki Chaat is a popular food item among the foodies. The lanes of old Delhi offers a number of non-vegetarian delicacies that you would find totally scrumptious and palatable. From kebabs to paranthas to lassi, Delhi's foods are a cherishable experience in themselves.
Delhi is also a hub of great religious sites and temples. Akshardham temple, Birla Mandir, Prachin Hanuman Mandir, Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, Lotus Temple, etc. are places which are worth the visit. Boating at the Old Fort or a walk down the grassy lanes of India Gate, a dinner at the Garden of Five Senses, a visit to the orphanages and old age homes in Mehrauli area, and such other engagements would give you a great understanding of this city and a slight glimpse into the essence and issues of India. Another heritage city that people often like to visit, Hyderabad, is well-connected to Delhi. There are several Delhi to Hyderabad flights to take you further on your exploration of India.
