A Symphony of Lights, which takes place every night starting at 8 pm, has been recognized as the 'World's Largest Permanent Light and Sound Show' by Guinness World Records. The 13 minute multimedia show involves more than 40 buildings on both sides of the harbour.
The Hong Kong Pulse 3D Light Show is an eight minute show incorporating audiovisual effects at the iconic buildings of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and the Clock Tower in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, with the content of the show changing in line with seasonal themes.
The aptly named 'A Symphony of Lights' features coloured lights, laser beams and searchlights synchronized to music and narration that celebrates 'the energy, spirit and diversity of Kong Kong' and showcases the 'vibrancy and glamorous night vista of Victoria Harbour'.
The show progresses through five main themes, these being Awakening (to symbolize the genesis and growth of Hong Kong), Energy (to signify the vibrant energy of Hong Kong), Heritage (symbolizing Hong Kong's colourful heritage and rich cultural traditions), Partnership (symbolically connecting the two sides of the harbour into one greater and unified partnership) and the finale, Celebration (to signify the celebration of the close partnership between the two sides and to represent an even brighter future for Asia's World City).
The music and narration of A Symphony of Lights is also broadcast nightly at the Tsim Sha Tsui (Kowloon) waterfront outside the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and at the promenade outside Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai (Hong Kong Island), which are the two best vantage points for watching the show. Broadcast of the soundtrack is in English on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, in Putonghua (Mandarin) on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and in Cantonese on Sundays. Selected radio stations also play the music and narration.
Another option is to take in the dazzling show from on Victoria Harbour itself, aboard a harbour cruise. There are several cruises to choose from which range in duration from one to two hours.
From 5 to 28 August 2016 the Hong Kong Pulse 3D Light Show will coincide with the Hong Kong Summer Fun season of expos, concerts and other happenings, and then from 25 November to 28 December 2016 with the Hong Kong WinterFest season of Christmas-themed happenings. The nightly show times are 8.20 pm, 8.45 pm, 9.15 pm and 9.45 pm.
Visitors to Asia's World City will find the MTR (Mass Transit Railway) a handy way of getting from their hotel lodging or serviced apartment in Hong Kong to the best vantage points for A Symphony of Lights and to the Hong Kong Pulse 3D Light Show. These locations can be reached on foot from nearby MTR stations.
Whether staying at a downtown Tsim Sha Tsui hotel such as the Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hong Kong or Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, to name a few in the area, or a serviced apartment in Hong Kong's outer suburban areas like Bay Bridge Hong Kong by Hotel G (formerly The Bay Bridge Hong Kong Hotel & Serviced Apartments) in Tsuen Wan, visitors will typically find the MTR network is close at hand. Many properties are within comfortable walking distance of a station.
Some properties, Bay Bridge Hong Kong by Hotel G among them, offer guests a shuttle bus service to and from the nearest MTR station or stations.
