Born as Kursaal Rapallo in the year 1901 and situated next to the famous landmark of those times, Villa Elisabetta, the hotel quickly gained fame for its climate and the provision for engaging in the gambling in casinos. Driven by the needs of its clientele who wanted to have more facilities, the expansion of the hotel was deemed inevitable and the New Casino Hotel was built to let the guests have their heartful of games of chance. It was after this expansion drive that name of hotel was changed to its current name, the Excelsior Palace.
Hotels in Rapallo-Excelsior Palace
The regale splendour of the hotel is reflected in its 140 odd rooms offering 200 beds to guests. All the room categories present classic views of exteriors making for a thoroughly enjoyable sight for a pleasant stay. There are four different categories of rooms: classic (22 square meters of space), superior rooms offering views of Tiguillo Gulf (28 square meters), deluxe rooms that have balconies and present wonderful view of sea (35 square meters), exclusive rooms also have great balconies that present even better views of sea of Rapallo and the gulf of Portofino (35 square meters) and the wi-fi connection is not charged for in these rooms.
Besides the four different types of rooms, there are three different types of suites. These promise you amazing panoramas, great terraces, regale furnishings and total comfort. All suites provide free internet connection and open bar. The Junior suite is of about 50 square meters area and its bedroom and sitting room are connected and there is no separation between these. The Classic suites make it possible for the guests to relax in spacious and well furnished balconies. These are also of 50 square meters area. The grand luxury is offered by the Presidential Suite of this hotel which has great expanse of 130 square meters of living area and 150 square meters of terrace.
Two of the most interesting points on which this property distinguishes itself from others are that of its being a gay-friendly and pet-friendly property.
The hotel has two restaurants, Lord Byron, which is open all the year round and the Eden Roc, which is opened only in summers. The small pets are accepted in the reserved area of these restaurants. Hotels Rapallo have bar and Excelsior Palace has two bars, one is called the Yachting Bar and the other is called the Sporting Bar. The former is open throughout the year and the other is open at select hours during the summer and winter seasons.
The hotel also has facilities for holding meetings and events, including the weddings. Duke of Windsor Congress Centre can be used for holding meeting of about 450 people. This has three large rooms, including Sala Simpson, Sala Duse and Sala Saroya. Besides, there are also three independent Hemingway Meeting Rooms and one single large room, Sala Faruk.
