Experience The Amalgamation of History And Beauty of Positano!

Positano is a commune and village on the Amalfi Coast in Campania, Italy in the midst of the hills leading downwards to the coast! This place is usually defined as a vertical town where the tourists need to explore it via a steep flight of steps instead of roads!!

This place is a perfect amalgamation of colors when seen from the sea, due to the grand mix of the white, yellow and pink color Mediterranean houses, blue sea, greenery of the Monti Lattari and the silvery grey of the pebble beach's it boasts of!

The history of Positano

Positano is said to have formed when the Ancient Romans built a number of villas on its beautiful and picturesque coast line whose remnants can be found till date very near to the Church dell' Assunta! This small town was built somewhere in the 9th century where it was slowly filling up with people from Paestum, who fled from the Saracen invasions at that time.

Positano is said to have increased its defenses with the formation of massive fortified walls, watch towers as well as steep narrow roads in the year 1268 after it was attacked by Pisa!

The most important church of the region, the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta is visible from every corner of this wonderful small town and conserves a 18th Century Byzantine inspired Icon of black Madonna is conserved in there as well!

Throughout history, this small village has been constantly threatened by natural disasters as well as attacks from the pirates and saw good times in the later years though until in the 18th century when Italy unified with them and with the coming up of new commercial routes, the importance of this port and trading town ceased to be! However, the visitors all over the world are still in awe with its natural and historic wonders and visit this port town to pay homage to its past!

The Positano Tour

The Positano Tour is a part of the Positano Amalfi Ravello Tour which is taken by the tourists while they visit Italy and it takes those about 9 hours to complete! To travel in this amazing and picturesque port town, Positano, the tourists need to dock at the Sorrento and leaving their cruise behind move ahead to discover the beauty of the Amalfi Coast! The first town which the tourists encounter en-tour is the small town of Positano which is sitting at a panoramic position with the amazing coast line at the backdrop! This city is full with pastel colored houses, colorful shops all of which surrounds the parish of the ancient church of Santa Maria Assunta most surprisingly! The remnants of its history and past can be seen from every nook and corner of this amazing port city and the best part about this place is also its numerous numbers of beaches! The beaches of Positano are world famous while the Spiaggia Grande beach is 300 meters long and is one of the largest on the coast of Amalfi too!
