February Events in Waikiki

Hawaii has lots of natural attractions and adventure options, and, of course, warm climate, it is the perfect holiday destination to visit right round the year. It is a simply fabulous destination to visit. Waikiki attracts millions of tourists from around the world to its gorgeous beaches and its famous Luaus. Most of the tourists that visit Hawaii are returning travelers, this shows that there is something that travelers enjoy for them to keep coming back. Whether you are a returning or first time tourist visiting Waikiki, here are some events taking place all over the island during this month that might interest you.

6th Annual Honolulu African American Film Festival on February 4-17. This year, the museum aligns the festival with concerts, a hip-hop education workshop, live theater, and a textile exhibition, with a focus on female voices of African descent. Program includes a talk by Black Lives Matter co-founders Patrisse Cullors and Alicia Garza.

The Wonderheads – Loon will be held on February 7, a physical theatre company and mask imagineers, bring you a love story that whisks a man to the moon and back. Francis, a lonely janitor who is plagued by isolation and tickled by whispers of childhood imagination, has hit rock bottom and discovers that he has nowhere to go…but up. And up. A surprising mix of physical theatre, comedy and pathos.

23rd Annual MCB Hawaii Kaneohe Bay 2017 Swamp Romp on February 11. It is Hawaii's oldest mud run. This run crafted by the Marine Corps finest takes you through the Nuupia Ponds and over/under tactical obstacles that challenge the strongest of competitors. The minimum age to participate in this event is 10 years of age.

Na Mele O Ko Olina hosts some of Hawaii's best Slack Key and 'Ukulele musicians on February 11. As well as 40 Hawaiian artists who display their artwork for sale. 9am-5pm at the Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club.

6th Annual 'Ukulele Contest is also on February 11, amateur 'ukulele players from across the world are invited to compete at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center's Royal Grove Stage at 2201 Kalakaua Ave.

GlowBash 5K Scavenger Hunt is also on February 11, an evening of the fun, fitness and friendly competition. Lighting up the city with glowing participants, as they navigates their way to 11 different clue locations. This unique event allows you and your team to create your own path as you move from one location to the next. You can run, walk or even jog your way through this event. Race stars at 6pm at Ala Moana Beach park.

'Ukulele Picnic in Hawaii is on February 12, and will offer two stages with live entertainment, each featuring well-known local and international ukulele performers. Free event. Complimentary shuttle busses between Waikiki and Kakaako Makai Gateway Park will also be available.

Star of Honolulu Valentine's Cruise Takes place on February 14, and includes a gourmet dinner and live entertainment.

Valentine's Day Dinner will also be on February 14, enjoy a romantic dinner with your loved one. Complimentary glass of sparkling wine with appetizer followed by a five course meal prepared by North Shore catering company, Ke Nui Kitchen. Music by Ron Artis II. Reservations are available from 5pm-9pm. $85 per person tax and gratuity included.

Keiki Great Aloha Run on February 18, is a 1.5-mile course (untimed) around the Neal S. Blaisdell Center and McKinley High School. Children (12 years and under), parents and supporters are invited to participate. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to benefit physical and nutrition programs in O'ahu schools.

Women in Film is on February 18-28. Films by and about women as we kick off a year-long partnership with Hawaii Women in Filmmaking. The program includes films that feature women in front of and behind the screen that showcase a common perspective from around the globe.

Wanderlust take place on February 23-26, at beachside festival where attendees can practice yoga from world-famous instructors, take in live music under the stars, listen to inspiring lectures, enjoy authentic North Shore cuisine. 7am-4pm at Turtle Bay Resort in Kahuku.
