Food Lover’s Guide to Authentic European Cuisine

Wine and dine sincerely matter in Europe. Not only attractions invite cheap European flights, but food too. It is said that attractions and food walk hand in hand and rub shoulders with each other in the European belt. With surplus activities, you give birth to an appetite that can be only met with the best of European food.

Profuse olives, walnuts along with locally produced tomatoes and meat products are used. Being rich in vegetables, the vegetarians are looked after quite well. There are a few things you would definitely want to try while visiting any European city.

What food is Europe famous for?

Austria is prominent for its Wiener Schnitzel – a breaded veal cutlet served with a slice of lemon, the Czech Republic for their legendary beers. Germany is famous for its celebrated wursts, Hungary for their goulash. Slovakia is famed for their gnocchi-like Halusky pasta and much more.

  • Bordeaux – It's wine and food wars
  • Tbilisi – Lip-smacking Georgian cuisine and wine

What is for Breakfast?

Ever tried Ensaimada? It's a delicious breakfast made from a soft and spongy bun, topped with sugar. This snack is extremely drooling and even carried back in an attractive packing right from the airport. This traditional delight has been drooling food lovers since the 18th century and adds to your morning cup of coffee or tea.

Luscious Lunch & Dinner

For a lavish lunch, you could try the highly recommended local cocarrois (a vegetable stuffed pastry), local grimalt cheese, vegetable slice pizza, white bread with olive oil and vegetables.

Alternatively, you could pamper your taste buds with cured ham and cheese, wholesome rice, soups, local sausages and the delicious sobrassada.

Dinner choices in Europe's famous cities are quite lavish. The surrounding seas, oceans and lakes are your plate. Right from a variety of fishes, oysters, crabs, to giant prawns, the beach destinations are not only alluring, but they are also a paradise for seafood lovers.

No one talks about the culinary delights of Europe without mentioning Paella. This is a typical Spanish favourite available in different forms. With a unique combination of rice, vegetables and seafood mixed with mouth-watering herbs and spices, this is a must-try. You can savour this lip-smacking dish at any of the hotels, at resorts and local markets.

The Tapas

In Euro-Spanish regions, The Tapas is very much loved. It comprises vegetables and meat dipped in sauce. Meatballs, squid rings and the highly savoured Tapas Variadas are lip-smackers you must try. It is either calamari or mini meatballs tapas that make up for a yummy sunny afternoon European lunch.

Have a Sweet Tooth?

Every European city and hamlet bears the aroma of the land and the sea, which in turn, creates a desire for something sweet and Europe caters quite well to this.

Your dessert could be either nougat (a family of confections prepared with sugar or honey, roasted nuts, egg whites, and chopped candied fruit) or a slice of turron.

To get the taste of something more extraordinary, your dish could be a pudding, a caramel custard, greixonera de brossat or a cheesecake.

Even while embarking for a European beach holiday, if you prefer a home away from home, Stanley's Tea Room, Brunel Inn, Julie's Sweets & Sandwiches, and Foxy in Majorca offer the ultimate dining scene like none other.

A Fruit Basket

Nothing is more delightful and soul-stirring than relishing seasonal fruit as well as dry fruits. Now, these are extremely popular in most European cities. If you have visited any European island, you will have the opportunity of sampling these fruits and the mouth-watering dishes and desserts prepared by them. All we can say – make the most of your time and visit these local bars and restaurants to sample the wonderful European culinary delights.
