Getting the Best Grand Canyon Air Tours – 5 Top Tips

Everybody loves a great getaway, and there's no better place for adventure than the Grand Canyon. If you want to get the most from your Grand Canyon experience, then you will need to take an air tour. Helicopter and airplane tours are both available from Las Vegas, and to get the best flights, you only need to start with these five simple tips.

Tip One – Book Your Flight Online

Want the most convenient way to book tickets for your Grand Canyon adventure? Make sure that you book online. Whether you're already in Las Vegas, or if you're booking from home, when you do it online, you will skip any additional fees that travel agencies and third parties sometimes add on. Just make sure that you use your credit card to take advantage of the lowest rates.

Tip Two – Be Sure to Book Early

It probably won't come as a surprise to learn that Grand Canyon tours from Las Vegas are some of the hottest tours in North America. These tours routinely sell out, all throughout the year. This means that you need to book early, and booking at least two weeks prior to your trip, is recommended. Remember that when you book online with your credit card, your tickets will be confirmed and reserved. What you don't want to do is book too close to the flying date, as 72, 48, and 24 hour bookings will result in hugely inflated prices as tour operators will need to accommodate you at the last minute.

Tip Three – Take an Extended Tour at the South Rim

The South Rim offers a completely different experience to the busier West Rim. Accessed from the small town of Tusayan in Arizona (you can fly direct from Vegas), the South Rim has two great helicopter tours to choose from. If you want the best experience, go for the longer one. The longer tour is 50 minutes in total and will take you all the way to the North Rim of the Canyon, and also to the eastern boundary. On this tour you will be able to view up to 75% of the entire National Park, which is not possible on any other tour.

Tip Four – Land at the Bottom at the West Rim

Helicopter tours to the West Rim will provide a great flyover sightseeing experience, but if you want to get really close, then choose a landing tour. A bottom landing tour can include a Champagne picnic at the bottom, and you can even add on a boat tour that takes you along some of the Colorado River. Seeing the Canyon from above is one thing, but getting right inside it is a whole new experience that you don't want to miss out on.

Tip Five – Choose a Deluxe Tour

Deluxe tours provide the full VIP experience, such as a limousine shuttle service from your hotel. They also depart directly from the Las Vegas strip, so they are the most convenient. However, the reason I always recommend deluxe tours, is because the helicopter used for these tours is the best available. It is bigger inside, quieter, has a huge viewing window, and the seats are laid out so that everyone gets an unobstructed view.

Bonus Tip – Book an Airplane Tour for the Cheapest Rates

IF you're travelling with a large group or you simply want the most affordable tour, then why not book an Airplane tour to the West Rim or South Rim. Airplanes fly at higher altitudes but they still offer a phenomenal sightseeing experience, and the planes are specially designed for touring, with oversized windows and top mounted wings. If you want to fly to the Canyon but you're on a tight budget, airplanes are your best bet. As an extra tip – go for the window seat. The difference in price is only $10 and it's fully worth it!

Conclusion

With a few simple tips, you can make sure that you get the best Grand Canyon experience possible. Las Vegas gives you access to all of the Canyon, so you will have plenty of choices.
