Grand Canyon Airplane Tours for Thanksgiving Travelers

Christmas is creeping up, but before then we will have the last 'other' major holiday of the year – Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a time for family and fun, but it doesn't mean that you need to be stuck at home. Taking an airplane tour at the Grand Canyon could be the ultimate holiday fun, but make sure you book soon, because tickets are selling out fast.

Why do tickets sell out so fast? Quite simply, it is because Las Vegas is the most popular spot to visit the Canyon from. The city is just over 100 miles from the National Park, and it takes only a little over 30 minutes to get out there on a flight. Most tours fly to the West Rim, but there are also South Rim tours available. Planes will take a little longer to get to Arizona, but you could still be at the South Rim from Las Vegas, in just 60 minutes.

At the West Rim, there are landing tours available. That means that besides flying over the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, and the Canyon Itself, you could even set down and explore the National Park even further.

Landing at the Grand Canyon

You will find that there are air-only tours available at the Grand Canyon, and these are great for those on the tightest of budgets, or who have limited time to travel. However, for those that have a little more time and can make their budget stretch further, a landing tour is the best option. The tour that lands near the rim of the Canyon will offer two and a half hours of total time to explore the area.

During that time, you will have the opportunity to take advantage of some add-on tour packages. One of these is the Grand Canyon Skywalk. You could purchase tickets to step out onto this transparent platform that is 4000ft above the bottom of the Canyon. There's even tickets you can purchase that will get you a trip to the bottom of the Canyon on a helicopter. On this one, you could even take a ride on a Grand Canyon boat, for the ultimate, all-inclusive adventure.

South Rim Tours

You don't have to travel to the West Rim from Las Vegas. There are also plane flights to Arizona, which cut an almost six hour car journey, down to a 60 minute flight. At the South Rim you could board a helicopter that tours to the North Rim. There are also ground tours available at the south rim, with a bus tour, or an exciting 4×4 jeep tour.

Airplane Tours are Affordable

Airplane tours keep costs down because the planes can carry more passengers. Up to 19 can be seated, and the aircraft are designed for sightseeing. This means that they have oversized windows, spacious cabins and comfortable seating, and the wings are even mounted above the windows, so that there's nothing to obstruct the view.

While airplanes have the advantage of being more affordable, they're also more practical for larger groups. One thing that you need to be aware of, is that these tours are in high demand. You should book as soon as possible to take a Grand Canyon tour on thanksgiving. Same day bookings can be expensive, so it is best to book as soon as you have confirmed your trip and your accommodation. Ideally, you should book at least a week before the day that you intend to fly.

Plenty to See and Do

Airplane tours offer affordable flights and versatility. With additional touring options available at the West and South Rims, choosing an affordable airplane package doesn't mean that you have to miss out on what the canyon has to offer.

Book online with your credit card, and that way you can take advantage of the best prices. Whether you fly to the West Rim, or the South Rim in Arizona, a Grand Canyon air tour from Las Vegas will offer the best way to see the most breathtaking natural formation that North America has to offer.
