Ho Chi Minh City is an excellent tourist destination if you want to travel on a budget. The city is cheap compared to almost all other neighboring countries like China, South Korea, Thailand and others. It had been on the sidelines of international tourism but in the recent years a lot of attention is being given to this city by international travelers. If you are traveling to Vietnam, you are bound to get best hotel deals no matter what time of year it is. No matter which big city you travel too, hotel booking fares and food prices are always cheaper than you'd expect.
Hotel booking fares in Ho Chi Minh City start from $10 for a night up to $95 for a good accommodation. On the high end, hotel booking fares start from $60 and can go as high as $200 for five stars accommodation. The room sizes may be small in the low end hotels, but if you try a little harder, you can find very good and comfortable accommodation. Hotel booking fares in the center of the city are also very cheap but we would recommend getting accommodation in the suburbs. Food and drinks are also very cheap in Vietnam. The best part is that all food items are of very good quality as Vietnamese try to eat fresh.
When to go: Hotel booking fares in most of Vietnamese cities are cheaper than Ho Chi Minh City. The prices usually don't change throughout the year. The city is located in the tropical zone and for most of the year it is hot. The best time to visit would be the dry season which is hot but there is very little rainfall and less humidity. The dry season lasts from May to November and rainy season from December to April. Temperatures are marginally low but the humidity is very high so it would be better to avoid it.
What to do: The city has many landmarks dedicated to the Vietnam war against the US. War Remnants Museum is an iconic structure which is a must-visit for tourists. Reunification Palace is a famous governmental building which is still in use but is more popular for tourists. You can also get full day tours in the city and its surroundings which will help you understand the city and country's history.
