Hotel Etiquette Rules You Need To Know

Planning a vacation in one of the 5 star hotels in Goa or any other destination? A holiday is all about having a good time, when you don't have to worry about everyday stuff. The hotel has all the answers! But just because you are staying in one of the 5 star hotels in Bangalore or Goa doesn't mean you go berserk and act like a spoilt teenage brat. Read on for some hotel etiquette rules:

  • Keep your booking details ready when you arrive at the reception desk. If you have specific re-quirements, let the hotel know in advance.
  • You would need to tip the valet, servers at the restaurant, housekeeping, and porters, but that de-pends on what the local culture is. So, make an effort to find out how things are done in the re-gion where the hotel is located in.
  • Simply because you have paid for your stay doesn't entitle you to dirty your room beyond meas-ure. Yes, 5 star hotels have excellent housekeeping staff but be mindful of keeping things under control and within reasonable limits. You could dump garbage into the bin provided, and heap your used towels in one place.
  • Just because you are staying in one of the 5 star hotels in Goa and you have paid for all the facili-ties doesn't mean you can be careless about the fixtures or appliances in the room. They are there for your convenience, but that doesn't give you the right to mishandle or damage any of the prop-erty in the room.
  • Please be mindful of the noise – yes, 5 star hotels in Bangalore have rooms equipped with the best televisions and WiFi connectivity so you can watch movies, listen to music etc. But be care-ful that the noise doesn't disrupt other people's schedules or nap times.
  • Luxury or premium 5 star hotels in Goa or Bangalore come with really good coffee pots, mugs, coasters or robes, bath towels, electric shaving kits etc, but they are meant only for your use dur-ing the stay at the hotel. You are free to make good use of lotions, conditioners, shampoos and soaps, but please don't carry back China sets, mugs, coffee makers or hair dryers with you on check-out.
  • Read all the instructions well before using the hotel's pools, gym, jacuzzi or spa. You may have to pay for certain facilities, while others are complimentary.
  • Supervise your children when they want to use the pool, gym etc. Also ensure that they don't stomp around the lounges, common areas, hallways of one of the 5 star hotels in Bangalore you are staying in and dirty the place. Unsupervised children could damage certain decor elements such as vases of flowers, decorative art etc.

Extending basic courtesies and practising good manners ensures that you and the hotel are happy with each other.

POLL: Do you feel like you want to do as you please when you are in a hotel on vacation or would you still mind your manners?
