How to Covert PIO to OCI?

NRI is an Indian citizen who is basically residing outside the India but has the Indian Passport. But PIO (Person of Indian Origin) and OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card holders are the individuals whose ancestors were of the Indian nationality but currently holding another country citizenship.

Moreover, both the cards PIO and OCI carry the same description and also same in nature but have a distinct difference.

PIO Vs. OCI:

A PIO card allows the visa free travel to India but is valid for only 15 years and if your stay in the India is exceeding 180 days on your single visit than you require registering within 30 days of expiry date with the concerned Foreigners Regional Registration Officer or at local police authority. But the card OCI allows lifelong visa free travel in India and does not require any individual to get register with any of the official registration during their single stay.

The individuals who go and live outside the India are categorized into three categories such as the NRIs, PIOs, and OCIs. For this reason, the government of the India used to issue the card OCI or PIO according to the individual requirement. Citizenship and privilege of being the citizens are easy but rules are not meant to be easy, hence they need to be followed for OCI card services. Rules are been made for each and everyone's good. Moreover, streamlining of the process is a key for all the individuals who exist and coexist.

PIO to OCI:

Well, there are various individuals around the world who has a lot of confusion about the Person of Origin (PIO) Overseas Citizen of India. The rule of the conversion has been changed by the government of the India and PIO is out but OCI is in. Nowadays the cost of the PIO to OCI is $20 with some of the shipping charges. Well, it is not much scary as it seems but you can have the patience as the rate is reasonable.

For the conversion of the PIO to OCI follow the instructions and pay the fees accordingly.

Also, they can easily get the citizenship within the years of registration they stayed in the country for past one year. But they do not have the right to vote in India and can contest election.
