How to Find the Best Seat on an Airplane

Extra Money Always Helps:

Spending the extra money is well worth it. You get to have a better spot on the plane and not to mention, good legroom which is essential if you want to keep the feeling alive in your legs. I'm sure all coach class users know what I am getting at.

The Wonders of Technology:

As much as you argue that smart phones are a distraction, you cannot deny that they are a big help as well. Download the IOS or Android Seat alert app and find yourself the most suitable coach seat through it. Put in information about the kind of seat you want and the app will alert you when your type of seat is available.

Off-Season Traveling:

If you are not traveling for a special reason, then it might be a good idea to book a flight during the off season. You will have a greater chance of getting a good seat and the airlines are willing to accommodate you more.

Friendliness goes a long way:

Gate agents can help you bag an excellent coach seat if they are in the mood. Be super nice to them and you might just get lucky.

Frequent Flier Perks:

If you have a frequent flier status with the airline, you should have no problem getting a premium coach seat.

Seek Help from the Guru:

I'm sure most of you are familiar with SeatGuru.com …even if you are not, get familiarized now. This website lists all the airlines and the type of coach seats they offer. Choose the one that suits you best and book it when buying the ticket.

Back Benchers:

Even if you were not a back bencher in school, it is time you become one on the plane. Sitting in the back means there are greater chances of an empty seat next to you. This means, you can use two seats and relax throughout the flight.

Online Checks:

Exit-row and premium seats are up for grabs 24 hours before the flight. So make sure you keep an eye out for such offers.

Worst Case scenario:

The worst case scenario is you sitting on a pathetic and uncomfortable seat waiting for the plane to take off. Well, stop feeling sorry for yourself. Instead browse the plane for all empty seats. As soon as the plane door closes, get the one you like best. Chances are the airhostess won't mind.
