Hwange National Park Zimbabwe-south Africa’s Largest Safari Park

The game parks of Africa have been fascinating the people since long and Hwange, being Zimbabwe's biggest and most diverse national park is no exception. The country of Zimbabwe itself boasts to be dominated by two striking rivers, endless shrub land and the far famed waterfall with the best game viewing on the entire African continent. Zimbabwe also keeps you bewildered with it's massive sizzling savannas, spectacular scenery and breathtaking spectrum of wildlife. Hwange is simply too full of animals with scarcity of people to engage in a fine gaming experience. There are many animals, radio call outs, and running jeeps to suffice the needful.

The whole park is stretched on a big area of around 5,657 square miles and has an estimated number of 50,000 elephants, more than 100 kinds of mammals and an approximate 500 species of birds but the Kruger National Park in South Africa has a much higher number of human visitors. So, it would be a wise choice to prefer Hwange National Park over the Kruger because both stand equivalent in ranking but the former is less inundated by the visitors which gives you more of a chance to be alone with your guide on a wildlife expedition in this park. The Nyamandlovu Pan, is that part of this park where one can easily find giraffes, baboons, elephants, buffaloes and a few wild cats. Animal poaching is widespread throughout the continent with depressing large figure at Hwange, where a high price is paid for animals of commercial use.

Best Time to Visit Hwange

To spot wildlife in Hwange, the best time is in the dry season which is at it's boom from late June till October. It is easy to locate them near the water sources as they are mostly in the search of water during those months. Most of the water holes in the Hwange are managed by the pumps throughout the year to maintain the animal population. The green season begins from December to March. Rains begin during November and by the time December reaches the wild species disperse throughout the park. There is a brief span of time in between, during the month of May before the peak season comes in June. Many of the lodges in the park fill up during the peak season so it is advisable to book flights to Zimbabwe much in advance to avoid the last minute price rise. Hwange is around 100 miles away from new Victoria Falls Airport, which daily welcomes flights from Doha, Johannesburg, Dubai, London and many other countries. Visitors can combine a trip to famous Victoria Falls with few days stay at the Hwange . There are many luxurious camps available for a comfortable stay in the premises of the park.

Hwange Safari Camps

The park is split into three camps namely Main Camp, Robins Camp and Sinamatella with Main camp being the park's headquarters and situated at the entrance. It has many caravan sites, a supermarket and a bar. Sinamatella camp is in the northern region and the Robins Camp located in northwest offers camping and self catering accommodation too. So, what keeps you waiting? Its high time to travel to Africa and explore the nature in wilderness, if you have not done it yet. Just take some time off from the mundane regime and plan for a befitting vacation with the family to the African continent.
