Jaipur – An Old City In Rajasthan Still Retaining The Essence Of Bygone Era

Jaipur, an old city, deriving its name from its founder Raja Sawai Jai Singh II, is the capital of the western Indian state of Rajasthan. A highly illustrated city, the entire city is a magnificent open-air display of numerous monuments, palaces, havelis, temples, forts, etc. under the sun. Due to its pink tint which is given by the small houses and buildings painted in Pink color, it has been aptly called “The Pink City of India”. It is a city that remained under the rule of Rajputs, who are famed for their bravery and patriotism, for a long period of time and today exhibits the lavish life that they spent as well as the culture and traditions of the kingdom. Further adding a bonus to Jaipur tourism is the warm hospitality of the vibrant people, colorful festivals, and last but not the least, the plethora of unique handicrafts to shop for. Being the capital city, it is sufficiently modernized and features a state-of-art airport and a large railway station with some good hotels from the long Jaipur hotels list in the vicinity.

Jaipur Tourism

Jaipur is easily one of the most visited places in the country and appeals to domestic as well as international tourists. An exciting heritage walk through the old monuments and palaces of the place, relishing a royal stay at one of the heritage hotels, and interestingly, getting married in the royal way, are one of the other reasons that lure travelers to the place. If you are on a tour of the city, following are some major sightseeing spots that you should include in your tour plan:
Amber Fort – A historic fort oozing the essence of Jaipur's rich past the Amber Fort, or the Amer Fort, is one of the most popular attractions of the city. Its construction was started by Raja Man Singh I and was put into completion by Mirja Raja Jai Singh. Featuring massive formidable walls, the fort is a grand structure within which exist a number of plush buildings, courtyards, and palaces. The quiet Maota Lake situated next to the fort provides a beautiful backdrop, which at the sunrise and sunset reaches an entirely different level. There are numerous good references to the by-gone era to keep one interested the whole time.
Jal Mahal – It is one of the most beautiful palaces ever built on Indian soil. Situated in the middle of Man Sagar Lake it is a fine exhibit of a harmonious mixture of Mughal and Rajput styles of architectures. It is built in red sandstone and features five different levels. Of these five levels, four levels get submerged when the lake is full, thus, giving an impression that the palace is floating on the water. With the beautiful background of Aravali Mountains, clear blue sky, and settled lake water, the entire setting is simply breathtaking.

Central Park – Situated in the midst of bustling city the Central Park is an ideal place to find solace from the monotonous schedule of daily life. Capped with evergreen trees, plants, and meadows, it is a lush green garden in the heart of the city. It has a 5 k.m. long track for walking and jogging, and incorporates Rambagh Polo Ground and Golf Club. It also houses a tall national flag and a revered temple.
In short, Jaipur is an ideal destination to visit on holidays as is full of wonderful tourist attractions. It is a beautiful old city that still retains the charm of the bygone era. A couple of major aircarries like, Spicejet airlines, Air India, IndiGo, etc. have flights serving the city's airport. Simply head to the city on next vacation to explore and experience it for real.
