Jamnagar – One Of The Chief Jain Pilgrimages Offering A Tranquil Vacation

Highly noted for the 30 plus Jain temples, Jamnagar is a major city of Gujarat. Having a location of the south of Gulf of Kutch, Jamnagar is a city located in the western coast of Indian mainland. It is the headquarter of Jamnagar district. The place is counted amongst the five largest cities in the state and today is on a road of rapid transformation of becoming a modern city. It is a Guinness World Record holder city for being the place with the longest Ram Dhun chanting. Since 1st August 1964 till present date a continuous on-going chanting of Ram Dhun is sung in the city. Once, a very large and highly significant city of the princely state of the Jadejas the place is bestowed with a long checkered history with several remnants scattered all over the region. The place became prominent to the world when Reliance Industries, one of India's largest and most profitable companies, established the largest oil refinery of the world in a village falling within the province of Jamnagar district. Today, the place is one of the most visited places in western India with a large concentration of hotels in Jamnagarto excellently accommodate the tourists arriving at the place.
Jamnagar is especially noted for the magnificent Jain temples. There are not too many Jain temples in the world and the Jain temples of Jamnagar are amongst the highly revered ones. This makes the city immensely significant to Jains. The four Jain temples, which are made up of marbles, namely Raisi Shah's Temple,Vardhman Shah's Temple,Vasupujya Swami's Temple, and Vardhman Shah's Temple in particular are distinctively noted. All the four temples were built between 1574 and 1622 and are the most revered Jain temples. Amongst all the Raisi Shah's Temple is the most ornate one. It is dedicated to tirthankar Shantinath and is a beautiful temple featuring a sanctum dome which is decorated with intricate gold inlay work. The marble floors have elaborate geometric designs featuring vibrant colors with mirrored ceilings. The temple is not just very spiritual but also a treat to the eyes. Tourists on a tour of the place generally flock the temple, thus making it one of the most visited places in the city.

A new addition to the city's attraction is the Jogger's Park. It is a beautiful garden located in the midst of concrete buildings on Palace Road. It is a good place to take some time off from the hectic daily schedule and relax. The Khijadia Bird Sanctuary is yet another good sightseeing point. It is located about 10 k.m. to the northeast of the city and is a destination that every birdwatcher should visit. The place is home to a large and varied species of birds including Great Crested Grebe, Purple Moorhen, Pheasant tailed Jacana, Coot, eagles, wagtails, martins, and Black-winged Stilt.
Tourists also visit Dhanvantri Mandir, Chandi Bazaar, Bala Hanuman Temple, Cremation Park, Gaga Wildlife Sanctuary, Khijada temple, Kotha Bastion, Marine National Park, Parsi Agiari, Pratap Vilas Palace, Ratan Bi Masjid, Ranjitsagar Dam, Shiv Temple, Solarium, Willingdon Cresent, Vinoo Mhotels in Jamnagar, hotels near railway station in Jamnagaratynkad Statue, and Rozi and Bedi Ports. These are the other major attractions of the place and are worth visiting.
Accessing the city is easy as there is an excellent network of roads, railway lines, and airways existing between the city and major Indian cities.
