Lonavala, A Quaint Hamlet That Offers The Best Opportunities To Relish Nature, History, And Culture

Falling within the province of the Pune district, Lonavala and Khandala are two of the most frequented hill stations in India. Lonavala, in particular, finds popularity amongst the nature buffs, adventurers, hikers, and travelers looking for a tranquil break from the same old daily schedule. The place has an abundance of nature and is simply a love-at-first-sight. Nature resides here at its bliss and every morning is full of freshness. As the chirping birds awaken oneself, it is pleasant to see the rays of the rising sun playing hide and seek with the thick morning fogs. But, as the day advances, the surrounding gets clearer, unveiling the stunning hills, verdant valleys, milky waterfalls, and numerous other allures of the region.

Lonavala Tourism

Mumbai and Pune are at 90 k.m. and 65 k.m. from the beautiful hamlet, respectively, and are the cities from where the highest concentration of backpackers flocks to Lonavala. There exists excellent road connectivity linking all. The road itself is heavenly and it gets quieter and the surroundings become more beautiful as you approach the town. Every year a large count of tourists visit Lonavala, thus, the place can be easily put in the group of most popular and most visited tourist destinations in India. There are hotels in Lonavala for all budgets. Starting from the amenities-full luxury hotels to the cheap hotels that offer a satisfactory stay without making one spend a fortune on stay, tourists have multiple good options to pick from. Or, you could also pick from one of the government lodges and guest houses, if you prefer.
Set at an average altitude of about 625 meters above the sea level, the place is host to a couple of ancient caves, such as Karla, Bhaja, and Bedsa. There is a belief that it is the reason why the place is called by the name because Lonavala came from Lonavli, which signifies caves. These caves are a must-visit as they are probably the best references to get a glance at the ancient history of the region. They are also good for trekking and suitable for a novice as well as an expert. If you happen to be in the place in monsoon, it is advisable to skip trekking as many treks get slippery. However, summer is just perfect for trekking and to indulge in a couple of other adventure activities. Things that you can enjoy in monsoon, here are getting drenched in the rain or play in the waterfall near a place called Tiger's Leap. You might also like to visit Bushy Dam and sit on the steps or the rocks beneath and enjoy the water rushing down with a great force and making loud noise.
While you are here, one allure that you should not forget to relish is trying the widely famous Chikki, fudges, and other savories of the town. Chikki, in particular, is a must-try, it is a tantalizing sweet that fill your guts with the passion of nuts, milk, dry fruits. It is more of an emblem of the town and a must-eat while you are here.
There are several other allures in this tranquil town. Visit the place on next vacation and relish them all. There are multiple ways to book the train or flight tickets. Online train ticket booking, in particular has become popular over the past few years.
