Markets of Pune

Pune being a blend of both the Indian and Western cultures is a paradise for all kinds of shoppers. The shops in the city are well stocked with almost everything and there will hardly be any item that you wouldn't get here. Located in the heart of Pune, Laxmi Road is among the busiest commercial market streets of Pune. This road is named after the goddess of wealth. Mahatma Gandhi Road

Mahatma Gandhi Road {M.G. Road) is a popular place where the people of the city head to for items of every kind such as electronics, branded clothes, household goods, gift items and other accessories. It starts at the end of Moledina Road, in the Ambedkar Square and leads to the East Street at Shankarshet Road, which later becomes the Pune-Sholapur-Hyderabad highway. Many old and well-known shops, restaurants, bakeries and medical or optical practices are based here. The street is so popular among shoppers of all age groups that they close it due to traffic over the weekends to make it shopping friendly.

Juna Bazaar

Juna Bazaar, or old market, is the place to look for second-hand goods. The Juna Bazaar is located near the Pune Railway Station and is the oldest street market of the city. It remains the main source of antique, used, second-hand & duplicate products. Even many of the residents of Pune are unaware of this market, but foreigners and amateur coin collectors are familiar with this street. One can end up with almost anything here from antique wood & wrought iron furniture, old historical coins, rare historic books, stamps, old contemporary jewellery to worn out trousers, old silk saris, second hand floppies and door hinges. So if you are looking for exquisite items within budget, you know where to head!

F.C. Road

Fergusson College Road popular as FC Road, is a cool hangout spot for many youngsters and is the prime location for commercial establishments like shops, showrooms, hotels, restaurants & offices. The road gets its name from Fergusson College, an educational institute established in 1885. FC Road has a lot of book shops, sweet shops and garment shops selling stuff at reasonable rates. The street is also the best place if you're looking to buy books at cheap prices. From street vendors to shopping arcades, second – hand and even new books are available at ridiculously low prices.

Phule Market (Mahatma Phule Mandai)

The Mahatma Phule Market built in the British era is well-known locally for supplying fresh fruits, spices, vegetables and articles for puja & other rituals. The gothic structure of this Market which also goes by the name 'Mandai' is considered to be one of the best architectures of Pune. This octagonal market has eight entry points, leading to the center of the market. More than 526 stalls are scattered in and around the market which sell a variety of items. The statue of Lokmanya Tilak positioned at the market adds to the historic element of the market. At present, the market is not only adored for its architectural beauty but also for the fact that it has several stores catering to various needs, making it the most sought-after location for the local public.
