Melbourne – The Cultural Capital Of Australia

If you think Australia, you simply cannot have Melbourne out of your list. Melbourne is the most visited tourist destinations in Australia, not to mention its second most populated city as well. It got voted as the world's most livable city for two years back to back in 2011. But let that be just another reason to visit this great city again and again. It is a city of surprises. The city is so full of places to visit, things to do and try that you would never find it to be the same. The trick is to take an unbeaten path, chuck the regular spot visits and explore the city of its real flavor.

Places to visit

Start your tour with the most happening place; the Melbourne City Centre. It is the hub of the city. If you are looking for a lot of fun and activity, be sure to catch up with some Melbournians at the Federation Square. It is a major meeting joint and a venue for many sporting and cultural events. The locals here are called Melbournians. If you are a cricket fan, you simply cannot afford to take a look at Australia's largest cricket ground – The Melbourne cricket ground (MCG or only “G”). Take a look below from the heavenly skies; the Eureka sky deck gives a breathtaking view of the cityscape. It is located in the Eureka tower which is the world's tallest residential building. The Melbourne Park, Melbourne Museum, State Library of Victoria, Royal Exhibition Building and so many other exciting spots are waiting for you to explore.

Things to do in Melbourne

The city has world class art, culture and heritage institutions. Its unique designs are more than just inspiring. If it's anything to do with Bohemian that you are looking for, try the Brunswick Street. Shopping sees no end in this city with numerous shops in its laneways; make sure you visit the Chapel Street too. Nightlife in Melbourne is no less exciting than the day. The city has some of the best casinos, pubs, bars and nightclubs. Watch the city wake up on your basket of balloon and experience the thrill of being hundreds of meters above ground or you can take Melbourne flights and get a glimpse of the feeling.

Melbourne flights are very convenient and a great mode of transport to the city. Take these flights and you might just get a chance to see the second busiest airport in Australia; The Melbourne airport.
