1. Red Square :

Tourists usually start their itinerary from Red square as all major attractions are close by. Listed amongst world heritage centers, it is now accessible to tourists exclusively as the local traffic is diverted from this site.

2. Saint Basil's Cathedral:

A reflection of various influences, the cathedral has intricately done designs and innovative techniques. The domes and pillars are exemplary in world architecture. Also functioning as a museum, the designs in the interior are as exquisite as the exteriors. Architects around the world study the central governing principle as this cathedral stands as unique in the world.

3. Lenin's Mausoleum:

The tomb housing the mummy of Vladimir Lenin has a solemn and dignified appearance to it. The place has security personnel around and the crowd of the tourists is monitored. The mausoleum has depth from the inside though it looks small from outside. The opening hours are limited up till evening.

4. GUM Department store:

One of the best things to do in Moscow is shopping at GUM department store. The most famous GUM is the large store in Kitai-gorod part of Moscow facing Red square. It presently serves as a shopping mall. Nearby Bolshoi theatre is a very similar building to GUM. In the evenings the place is lit up mesmerizingly. The interior is similar to London architecture with steel framework and glass roof. It is a specimen of Russian medieval architecture.

5. The Resurrection gates:

Reflecting the architectural grandiosity of medieval period, this is another structure that was reconstructed in the modern era. The brick red monument is an icon of historical importance for the Russians.

6. Kazan Cathedral:

Located in the city of Kazan, this cathedral is rumored to be a house of super natural powers. The cathedral is the icon of Virgin Mary who is the patroness of the city. It was built to celebrate the victory over polish and Lithuanians. It is church with distinct architecture and craftsmanship.

7. State history Museum:

Living up to its reputation, the museum is a house to many articles from prehistoric era to Romanov period. The diverse collection is an invitation for many lovers of history and art. The State history museum is located between Red square and Manege square.
