Phu Quoc Island Travel – Suggestion For 3 Days Trip
Belonging to Kien Giang, Phu Quoc is known as the “Pearl island”. Phu Quoc is truly a paradise for beach lovers with clean blue sea such as Bai Sao and Bai Dai. Dong Duong town is the center of bustle and hustle especially night market near Dinh Cau (Cau palace). Furthermore, Ham Ninh fishing village, Ganh Dau and An Thoi archipelago are “must-visit” places when traveling to Phu Quoc. Phu Quoc is also famous for not only fresh seafood but also pepper.
Each day, visitors will explore separately parts of Phu Quoc from East to South and North.
DAY 01: EASTERN ISLAND OF PHU QUOC
Morning
Your exploration of the pearl island should be started at the East. Located 10km from Duong Dong town is Ham Ninh commune with the pristine landscape of a fishing village.
Visitors will enjoy the steamed crabs or buy small gifts made of snails. To Ham Ninh, do not forget to visit Tranh stream which only costs VND 5,000 (USD 0.2) for entrance ticket. The stream is very beautiful thanks to the steps surrounded by flowers along the way.
After contemplating the wonderful natural painting, visitors can swim on the stream or relax on the large cool stones…During the trip, you should also visit the pepper trees, wine and sauce workshops to get deeper understanding of the crafts.
Afternoon
Coi Nguon museum with the square of 1.5 hectare is located on Tran Hung Dao street, Dong Duong which will give you a lively and deeper experiences of the island's history through videos and photos.
Besides, the museum has a place for preserving valuable and rare animals related to the island which will be an ideal destination for nature loves.
Evening
With the cost of VND 300,000 (USD 14) per person, visitors will have a great experience of squid fishing with the locals. Sit tightly on a small boat surrounded by the darkness, visitors will be instructed by the fisherman about the fishing technique and practice right away. The most interesting thing is that you will enjoy the squids on the boat.
DAY 02: SOUTHERN ISLAND OF PHU QUOC
Morning:
Fishing and diving to see coral reefs at An Thoi beach located in the Southern island are wonderful activities which cannot be missed when visiting Phu Quoc (price: around VND 350,000 (USD17) per person). Visitors will dip in to the emerald sea and enjoy the beautifully colorful coral reefs.
More interestingly, you can catch fresh fishes by yourself which will be your food for lunch. On the way to the South, visitors can stop over at pearl growing workshops including Ngoc Hien, Long Beach…If have more time, visitors can see Hung Long pagoda.
Afternoon
During the trip to the Southern Phu Quoc, visitors can stop at Phu Quoc prison. After that, walk along the path nearby, visitors will reach Sao beach which is one of the most beautiful ones in Phu Quoc and then enjoy swimming, sunbathing or just relaxing on the beach…
Evening
Visitors can see night market of Dinh Cau to discover the unique food of the locals such as, fish salad, grilled turtle-shells…If having more time, just relax on the sea to enjoy the breeze.
DAY 03: NORTHERN ISLAND OF PHU QUOC
Morning
The national park of Phu Quoc occupies the main area with a wide range of fauna and sauna. With the mild weather, this area is very suitable for retreat and adventure.
Visitors can visit Nguyen Truc Truc temple dedicated to the national hero Nguyen Trung Truc who fought the French in the 1800s. In the North, visitors can travel to Ganh Dau or enjoy Dai beach which still remains untouched.
Afternoon
After relaxing and freshening up, visitors can walk to Dong Duong market to visit and buy beautiful local gifts. Note that to buy fresh seafood, visitors should travel to this place around 4pm when fishing boats back to the port.
