With the economic environment as it is, the notion of a getaway is in the top of many families minds, but travelling is expensive, we all understand this. Not only is the holiday location high priced, by this I mean the Hotel, bed and breakfast or accommodation. But also the journey expenses to get there are high. Time to start saving

Much easier said than done, I know. Saving money when a lot of of us are finding it arduous to make ends meet is by no means an easy feet. But it makes sense to plan ahead as far in advance as you can. It is much easier to set aside 20 a week for 50 weeks rather than coming up with a 1000 as swiftly as you can before the start of your getaway.

Begin by putting your break away money aside as soon as possible. The holiday will be on you sooner than you anticipate, so beginning to save immediately is the key. Little and often is the way. A great idea is to divide the amount of your holiday by the number of weeks you have until your holiday. Then just put that cash aside every week. You now have a structured timeline you can work towards.

The early bird catches the worm. Book in advance and save!

If you have a date in mind as to when you want to go away on holiday getaway, then start looking for offers on the internet. You are reading through this article, so it looks to me like you know your way around a computer. Many hotels and travel destinations allow you to make large price savings in you make a reservation well in the future. Just saving a few hundred quid will make a big difference to your holiday budget.

Depending on who you book with, should your conditions change and you can't go for some reason or another, then some places will give you a full or part refund, however each policy is different, and you should always read the fine print on all your purchases! This way you will not be surprised by any cancellation fees.

Buy the necessities before leaving

When you get to your getaway destination, the shops in which you can buy essentials from will be a lot more high-priced, why? Because you are a captive audience and you will pay what you need to in order to get your basic items. So rather than buy when you get there, plan ahead and purchase before. Toiletries, medication, hats, sunglasses and other items can all be bought at a lower price from your local retailers.

Keepsakes are a fun part of any holiday getaway. But don't go too crazy, how regular are souvenirs bought and then just put away in the attic? It you are something like my family – a lot! Set a budget for mementos and perhaps buy practical things: food such as candy, clothing, mugs, bags and hats, something you need anyway, but with the addition of the local symbol printed on it.

I hope this article has helped you in some way to save funds on your next break away. Remember to check out part 2 for more tips and tricks, which can be found in my profile. Thank you so much for looking.
