Silk Market at Valencia

After being declared by the UNESCO as the Humanity's heritage, this monument has become very famous. Every year many tourists flock to this place in order to witness the monumental structure and admire its exquisite beauty. The architectural design is that of Gothic style and was built by the famous builder Pere Compte.

The building looks like an old fortress with high walls and gates on all sides. The entire building is of four different segments and each one has been constructed to serve a particular purpose. There is the main entrance door, then you have the courtyard, columns in the shape of spiral and there is also a Patio De Los Naranjos.

The building was built during those times when the city of Valencia was in very good fortunes. There were market activities everywhere and it was regarded as the golden age for the city. In the year 1996 the humanity's heritage title was given by the UNESCO. The entire hallway and all through the building you will find very interesting carvings on the wall that will leave your enigmatic. Every carving will have a story behind it and it will take you to the era of gothic's and their culture and traditions.

The silk market alone has a spread of around 3000 sq mtrs and is a magnificent structure worth visiting. The silk market is the place where most of the commercial activities take place. This formed the intermediary for most of the commercial transactions that took place between France, North Africa and Italy. Through such strong economic activates the Valencia city became stronger in all aspects including economic, social and cultural too. Even today we could see many of the old establishment being preserved with lot of care like the military buildings, religious structures and many more.

The silk market has three areas and all these are connected by a beautiful courtyard filled with the orange trees. The commercial deals were finalized in contract hall that formed the major portion of the entire silk market. The entire building brings back the old memories of the civilization that took place in those days.
