Sizzling Summer In Spain- A Holiday Guide

A summer holiday to Spain is like offering an adult a candy; we dare refuse it, rather snatch at its first sight and chew out every bit of it. Spain is magical that leaves travellers mesmerised by its every inch of land. A walk on the beach or walking tour of the city, before you know it, you will find yourself in love- a different love for the local fiesta, exciting celebrations, or mighty architecture of Barcelona. Surprising attractions in its capital of Madrid, high Pyrenees to Moorish cities of South of Spain, trendy restaurants in Basque, to wild countryside of central Spain, it has much more to offer than you can ever see.

Booking a summer holiday villa in Spain should be planned ahead of time to save money. The month of July and August are peak months where as June and September could get you the same villas at prices 30 percent less. Spain offers all kinds of villas.

  1. well-equipped villas overlooking the Mediterranean.
  2. stone-structure farmhouse in the countryside.
  3. cottage by the Atlantic. The most expensive summer villas are found in Ibiza and Majorca.
  4. Costa Brava, an inexpensive tourist location with beautiful weather and outstanding beaches, has attracted many tourists.
  5. Costa Daurada, south of Barcelona is also an alternative cheap attraction in Catalonia region.

Do's and don'ts while booking a holiday villa in Spain

There are many websites that help to book reasonably-priced villas. However, many like to book directly with the owner to get the best price deal but one must to stay careful because it could well turn out to be a scam.

Be a smart traveller and compare prices offered by the local agents and tour operators. Websites like Spain Holiday or Homeaway have more than 8000 properties to choose from. If you're travelling with family, especially kids, you can look into villas with many bedrooms and a large dining area. Molino Rio Alajar in Andalucia or Ea Astei in Basque Country is kids' friendly villas that offer amenities like high-chair, bunk beds, play areas and well-equipped kitchen.

Self-catering holiday accommodation is the best way to start your trip. It cuts the initial cost and lets you have enough left to try the delights of Spanish towns and cities. Be it the nightlife of Ibiza, relaxing on an island in the Canaries or soaking in culturally-drenched cities, there are thousands of self-catering villas, apartments and hotels that let you stay in the heart of the city. Enjoy shopping at a local super market and treat yourself by preparing dinnerin the comforts of a well-equipped kitchen while sipping on your favorite glass of wine. The reason why many families or group of friends prefer self-catering are :

  1. choice of planning their holiday the way they would want it to be.
  2. From planning their meals to heading out on city exploration.
  3. Self-catering holiday accommodations can be selected according to one's preference such as kid-friendly, wheelchair access, smoking allowed to being pet-friendly.
