Sonic The Hedgehog to Open New Sega Arcade at Yorkshire Theme Park

If you love to have family days out in Yorkshire and your kids are fans of Sonic the Hedgehog, you may want to pay a visit to Lightwater Valley Theme Park in Ripon over the next few weeks. This fantastic family park is the perfect destination for Yorkshire days out and last weekend opened a brand new Sega Arcade, with Sonic himself being there for the grand opening. This arcade, combined with more than 40 other exciting rides and attractions in North Yorkshire at the park, will make for a family day out you'll want to relive again and again. Not only are there plenty of fun things to do in the theme park but it's set in the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside, so you get to enjoy stunning scenery as well as exciting attractions.

What are the rides at this park like?

There's something for everyone when they spend their days out in Yorkshire at this brilliant theme park. The attractions are split into three sections (Mini Adventures, Mega Adventures and Ultimate Adventures) so you'll easily be able to identify which rides are suitable for your children depending on their age and height. Your Yorkshire days out could be spent peddling around their lake on the Swan Lake Pedal Boats, spinning above the treetops on last year's new addition, Apollo, or twisting and turning deep through the woods on Europe's longest roller coaster, The Ultimate. It is even home to the UK's largest Angry Birds Activity Park – a keen favourite among the younger children. There are so many attractions in North Yorkshire to choose from, you'll be spoilt for choice!

The big opening of the Sega Arcade

On the day of the grand opening of the Sega Arcade, Sonic was at the arcade meeting and greeting park visitors at a set time as well as wandering around the park for the rest of the day. Not only this, but he hosted a competition for both children and adults to take part in on their days out in Yorkshire. The competition saw contestants battling it out on the arcade's basketball game to try to come out with the highest score. The lucky winners of this contest won a Tokio Recon App Controlling Camera Drone – something all kids (and adults!) would absolutely love. There was a prize for under 16s and a prize for over 16s.

Get your tickets!

Tickets to enjoy Yorkshire days out at Lightwater Valley are great value for money, and even more so if you choose to book your tickets online through their website. A standard ticket (bought on the day you visit the attractions in North Yorkshire at the park) costs 30.00 per person, however, when you book online it is only 20.00 per ticket. Furthermore, they've ran two flash sales so far this summer offering 15.00 tickets, giving you a whopping 50% off the standard admission fee. Keep your eye on the theme park's social media pages to see if they put out any more promotional offers like this.
