Summer Destinations That Defy The Beach-break Culture

The children are home for their summer break and the whole family is excited for a summer break. Around this time the beaches are flooded with tourists sipping drinks and swimming to cool off. The first destinations that bubble up in ones mind are the Bahamas, Florida or Goa. It's true that a sunny beach falls second to nothing especially during the summers, but they are not all that Earth has to offer.

Some magical destinations here on Earth are only amicable (climate wise) during the summers and the beauty is jaw-dropping. You may not be able to play ball at a busy beach at these destination, but the compromise is worth. Being in natures lap under the warm sun is pleasure beyond words. Here are a few destinations cherry-picked that make a summer holiday memorable:

1.Iceland

Iceland is one of the Nordic countries. During the winters, the entire country is blanketed in white snow and the temperatures are freezing. During the summers, however, the scenario is very different: the snow melts to water the blooming greenery and the sun comes out to dress the day. Waterfalls start pouring again, some of the most scenic ones are the Gulfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls. Tourists can even hike giant glaciers. Iceland is a great family destinations because of the numerous picnic spots it has (only during the summers). Soft grass and expansive lakes while you have sandwiches and wine is like a dream. Experiences are simply different here; the ice caves are very popular for the magical blue hue they give out from over you. Perhaps the most enthralling moments of an Iceland tourist is during whale watching. Orcas, humpbacks and even Blue Whales can be spotted!

If you're still adamant on visiting the beach, be sure to take a stroll at Iceland's black sand beaches.

2.Finland

The capital of Finland, called Helsinki, has rather an unusual attractions. Many consider the lifestyle and localities to be one of the attractions. This city is for ones who like geometry, trends and meticulous design; UNESCO has labeled Helsinki the city of design. The people also stay up-to-date with their fashion and the architecture is diversely modern.

The countrysides of Finland is a place worth meandering through – on a bike of course. Picturesque landscapes, friendly people and amazing picnic spots! Deeply bedded in the Finish culture is sauna bath. Take a dip to calm down and relax. Its marvelous that during the summers, the sun doesn't set in Finland (which is evident in the Arctic circle). The midnight sun is a spectacle to gaze at with your family. Another spectacle to gaze at are the auroras in Northern Finland that appear in September.

Most of these experiences are fully enjoyed during the summer since winters are freezing.

3.British Columbia, Canada

British Columbia is in Canada. There are many reasons to visit this place, however, it may not be for everyone. The lifestyle here is simple, or rather tranquil, just like the landscapes that surround it. BC is specifically for those who thoroughly enjoy quiet settings and being the lap of nature. Here, you have many wild life sanctuaries to spot animals such as giant Grizzly bears, Bisons, Mountain Goats and Moose. Vancouver island is famous for whale sightings. One can hike mountains here like Mount Steele, Evans peak and Crown mountain to name a few. British Columbia is a great peaceful destination compared to noisy beaches, but the catch is that even during the winters, BC is just as thrilling because of its winter sports.

This place makes it into the best summer destination list for sure.
