Thai Airways’ Award-Winning Destinations Of Hong Kong, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur

Hong Kong was recently named at the top of market researcher Euromonitor International's annual Top City Destinations Ranking for the fifth consecutive year, beating out London in second place.

Singapore was ranked third in the list while Kuala Lumpur rounded at the list in 10th spot. Bangkok came in at fourth place.

The Euromonitor ranking covers 100 of the world's leading cities in terms of international tourist arrivals. The list recorded Hong Kong's such arrivals in 2014 at 27.7 million, Singapore's at 17.08 million, Kuala Lumpur's at 11.6 million and Bangkok's at 16.2 million.

Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur also ranked highly in the inaugural MasterCard Asia Pacific Destinations Index, as did Bangkok. An offshoot of the annual Global Destination Cities Index, this ranks 167 destinations including island resorts, towns and cities across the region by total number of international overnight arrivals, cross-border spending and total number of nights spent at each destination.

In terms of international overnight visitor numbers in 2015, Bangkok topped the list with 21.9 million while Singapore came in second with 11.8 million, Kuala Lumpur was in fourth with 11.3 million and Hong Kong ranked seventh with 8.3 million.

Bangkok also ranked number one in total expenditure at US$15.2 billion with Singapore third at US$14.1 billion, Kuala Lumpur fifth at US$10.5 billion and Hong Kong ninth at US$6.7 billion.

In total nights stayed by international tourists, Bangkok again topped the list with 107 million, Kuala Lumpur was third with 68.5 million, Singapore was seventh with 55.3 million and Hong Kong was 14th with 27.8 million.
