The Thai airline's new service to the Iranian capital will operate on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, with the outbound flight leaving Bangkok mid afternoon to touch down in Tehran in the evening and the return flight departing Tehran late evening and arriving back in Bangkok early the next morning.
To help mark the launch of the route, Thai Airways International or THAI is making available for purchase until the end of September a special promotion for travel to Iran. The Bangkok-Tehran roundtrip air fare starts from Bt15,925 per person inclusive of surcharge and taxes. The fare is valid for ticketing from now until 30 September 2016, for travel that can be commenced between 1 October and 31 December 2016.
Seats per flight for the promotion are limited and THAI is encouraging people to book early, with booking available on the thaiairways.com website.
THAI's Royal Orchid Plus frequent flyer members who travel on the special air fare to Tehran will earn normal mileage accrual for travel in J/M/H/Q class and 25 percent mileage of actual miles for travel in V/W class.
When it begins in October, the Bangkok-Tehran service will see the bustling capital city of Iran become the Thai airline's third destination in the Middle East after Muscat and Dubai.
Situated at the foot of the Alborz mountain range, Tehran is a cosmopolitan city that welcomes visitors with plenty of museums and art galleries, parks, restaurants, cafes, bazaars and – due to its location almost a mile above sea level – with a cooler climate than many other cities in the region. From November to April, world-class skiing can also be enjoyed within an hour's drive from Tehran.
Travel information on Tehran, as well as useful links relating to the destination and to travelling there, can be found at thaiairways.com as can it be for the airline's other destinations around the world.
From its headquarters at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport, THAI offers its passengers a global route network that comprises more than 60 destinations in Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East. Within Thailand, its domestic network operated with subsidiary THAI Smile links 10 points in the North, Northeast and South of the kingdom.
Thai Airways International is a founding member of the Star Alliance network, which currently operates over 18,500 flights daily to 1,330 airports in 192 countries.
At the Skytrax 2016 World Airline Awards held in July at the Farnborough International Airshow in England, THAI took home the prestigious awards of World's Most Improved Airline and World's Best Airline Spa Facility for its Royal Orchid Spa at Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
The Thai airline also earned itself a top three spot in the three categories of Best Economy Class Airline Catering, Best Airline Staff in Asia and World's Best Airport Services.
Meanwhile THAI is expecting delivery in 3rd Quarter 2016 of its first A350-900 XWB from Airbus. The A350 XWB (for Xtra-Wide Body) is the latest generation airliner and newest member of the plane manufacturer's widebody product family.
