The Best Activities on The Thames – Cheap Holidays in London

England's capital is like no other destination. As the hub of the southeast it prides itself as being culturally rich and a provider of entertainment for all. Whether you are visiting London or England for the first time, have frequented the city or in fact live within its proximity, there is no doubt you can ever find yourself at a loose end. Whilst the capital is renown for being expensive there is no shortage of deals to be found and cheap holidays to uncover.

The Thames, the second longest river in the United Kingdom, flows right through the capital – from east through central London and out to the west. The strategic position of the Thames within London has meant that the city has flourished from activity supported by way of the river – be that international trade in East London docks, sporting events from rowing to sailing, or a means of public transport still in use today.

To uncover more of the history of the Thames River the Museum of London Docklands sets out to inform you of London's long history as a port. Along the river today there is much else to see and do. Tour boats will guide you along the river pointing out major landmarks and attractions. From the O2 dome and arena, London Eye, OXO Tower, Tate Modern and Tower Bridge. Each attraction suggesting the cheap holiday deals are waiting to be found.

Holidays in London are some of the very best. As a glamorous city no visit would be complete without sampling some nightlife or enjoying a cocktail along the riverside. A popular evening activity for tourists and Londoners alike is to enjoy a boat party on the river. An ideal way to spend celebrating a birthday, anniversary or to welcome in the New Year, a boat combines that edge of glamour and romance – enjoying the flow of the river and drinks against the stunning scenery of the city at night. Many boat party packages are to be found including disco and karaoke, Christmas and hen and stag does.

However, if you are simply after a relaxing way to enjoy the riverside scenery you can enjoy a traditional English cream tea or lunch aboard a variety of boats – for whatever suits your budget. In addition London City airport is within easy reach of all riverside activities – located on the DLR tube line that coincidently includes a stunning view of some of the emerging dockland landscape along the ride.
