The Capital City of India – A Must for Every Traveler Visiting India

Delhi is a metropolitan city that bridges two different worlds – Old Delhi, which was once the capital of India under Islamic rule and New Delhi that was created by the British Raj. Delhi is a second populous city after Mumbai in India. The capital also includes NCR i.e. National Capital Region which includes Noida, Sonepat, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad and Greater Noida. It is also the political hub of India with almost all national parties having their headquarters here. In fact, it is administered by the Federal Government of India as well as the Government of Delhi.

Must Visit Places in Delhi

One of the most famous places to visit in this city is the Red Fort. The walls of red fort stretch for almost 2 kms and was built by the Mughals. Another important tourist destination is the Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. One needs to be dressed appropriately to be allowed inside. Humayun's tomb is another fascinating monument to be visited as its structure is inspired by the Taj Mahal of Agra. Lodi garden is one of the most serene places in this city that one must visit as it provides a complete retreat from the fast paced Delhi life.

One must book Delhi air tickets and come and see the tallest brick minaret in the world. The tower is covered with intricate verses and carvings from the holy Quran. A visit to Gandhi Smriti will make one see the exact place where the father of the nation was assassinated. India Gate is another place to visit which was built in the heart of Delhi in memory of the Indian soldiers who died fighting for the Britishers in World War 1. Bahai temple also known as the lotus temple because of its shape is also a famous tourist attraction which looks prettier at night when it is lit up. One cannot end the trip to this city without visiting the Chandini Chowk which is a shocking contrast to the orderly streets of this city. It is crumbling, chaotic yet captivating. It is one of the busiest markets in India and is also an excellent place to have some mouth watering street food and one can shop for goods which are available at a cheaper rate than the rest of the city.

Compared to other cities in the world buying a Delhi Air ticket isn't that costly affair. Also, the airport is one of the finest international airports in the world that connects many countries around the world.
