The Pink City – Jaipur

Jaipur is the largest city in Rajasthan, India and also the capital of Rajasthan. It has a population of about 3.1 million. It is also known as the Pink City. It is known as the Pink city because of the color used on the walls in the city. Any rulers had ruled the city, but the most prominent was Maharja Sawai Jai Singh II, he founded the city in 1727 and so the city is named after his name. The city is full of ancient architecture which includes big palaces, beautiful temples, havelis and many others. It's not only the ancient buildings which the city offers for tourists apart from that it is famous for its antique handicrafts and unique jewelry. Overall the city turns out to be an ideal tourist destination. The best time to visit the city is between October and March.

When I was in third year of my college and my end semester exams got over in mid of December our college administration was ready for a college trip to Jaipur, we had planned it earlier only before the starting of exams. On the third day after completion of our exams we had planned to go to Jaipur. We had hired three A/C Volvos for our trip, and it started from New Delhi – Jaipur – New Delhi. We started our journey in the night from New Delhi and we reached Jaipur early in the morning. One 2 star hotel was booked and one 3 star hotel was booked, one was on one side of the road and the other was on the opposite side of the road, both were exactly opposite to each other. One being 2 star hotel and other being a 3 star hotel, there was not more difference between the two, if we talk about the amenities both had WiFi and AC, apart from that rooms were of same sizes in both hotels.

On the first day we started our trip from exploring the city we shopped a lot in the city, we explored every big and small market of the city. We also noticed about the huge presence of hotel industry in Jaipur, there were budget hotels, cheap hotels, serviced apartments, guesthouses, affordable hotels, Boutique hotels and resorts. Then on the second day we viewed some very beautiful temples in the city which included Galtaji, Birla Temple, Govind Dev Ji Temple and Moti Dungri, believe me we got so much peace and rest in our minds by visiting those temples. They are the real heritage of Rajasthan. Then comes the third day of our trip we explored the palaces and forts of the city where we came to know about the culture of our past, how mughals used to live how they used to dress up, how they used to fight with their enemies by seeing the architecture of their palaces and forts. We saw Amber palace, city palace Jaipur, Hawa mahal, Jaigarh fort, Jantar Mantar, and many more. Then comes fourth and the last day of our trip we had to leave the city in the evening, so from morning we explored some beautiful gardens of the city which included Kanak Vrindavan Garden, Sisodia Rani ka Bagh and Vidyadhar Garden. Then in the evening we left for New Delhi, this is how our journey comes to an end.
