The Surprising Story Of Bedbugs In Your Hotel Room

Suppose you are about to travel to a top-notch city such as London and have already booked your room in one of the best hotels near Oxford Street in the city.

However, too tired of traveling, when you lay in your beautiful bed, you get bitten by small insects which reside in your bed, turning your comfort into an absolute nightmare.

Well, this is not just a hypothetical situation but an actual thing.

And not only the cheap hotels in London’s Victoria Station but even the guests at some of the best hotels have experienced bedbugs in their hotel beds, proving enough to be a night-spoiler.

Where Do These Bedbugs Come From?

It could be surprising, but even more annoying that the hotels which assert to offer the most comfortable stays contain bedbugs in the beds. And chances are that they already existed since long, having not been brought to the hotel’s notice by the previous customers.

These bedbugs mostly come along with the travelers who bring them with their luggage or the ones which have arrived from another hotel- the bed of which contained bedbugs.

How To Check The Bedbugs:

You would not be pleased to know this but if your hotel bed contains bedbugs and you place your luggage on it, chances are they the insects crawl into your bags and travel with you to your home.

No wonder, you would freak out when you see them in your personal bed.

So to ensure that you do not bring bedbugs as a gift from the hotel, here is what you need to do:

  • When you enter the hotel room, take your luggage and place it in the bathroom. This is the place where they do not normally occur.
  • Use your flashlight and inspect the bedsheet carefully. Flip the pillows, bedsheet, and mattress and inspect the bed very carefully.
  • Look for the signs of adults, dead bedbugs, nymph or even eggs.

If you do not find any signs, the place is considerable to stay.

What If Your Find Bedbugs?

To your surprise, if you find bedbugs in your bed or any other place, here is what you should do:

  • Call the hotel attendants and inform them immediately.
  • Ask the front-desk managers to change your room, possibly to some other part of the building that is far from the previous one.
  • Stay away from the bed. The insects could crawl into your clothes.
  • Take pictures of the insects and leave a review about the hotel on their website or other online sources. This would help other customers to beware of the conditions.
  • If you can get a room quickly, ensure to check it too. If you want, you can ask for your money back.

Also, do not forget to check the online review about a particular hotel you are booking.

If you bring bedbugs home from your hotel room, you would end up freaking every day as they would reproduce to add much to your troubles at home.
