The delicious cuisine, picturesque views, and astonishing architectural buildings draw people to this part of the world. However, one cannot deny that traveling to Italy is not that cheap, so to help you save at least in accommodation, here are some tips.

1. Book early

Landing a cheap vacation rental is like booking an affordable plane ticket-you have to start searching months before your holiday. If you book a week before, chances are, the prices have already skyrocketed. Planning ahead of time is the key to staying in the budget.

2. Book directly with the owner or host

Skip the travel agents and go directly to the owner of the home. This will save you more money because you don't have to pay a mediator just to book a holiday rental in Italy. Aside from this, the owner might also earn more because they don't have to pay the agent for finding a customer on their behalf. Some hosts have social media accounts or pages where they display their contact information. Many of them list their properties in online booking portals that specialize in connecting guests to owners, too.

3. Book during off-season dates

The prices of vacation rentals typically go down during off season dates in Italy because the demand is lower. If you have a tight budget but are in dire need of a vacation, then travel before or after the peak season.

4. Find a free online booking portal

Find an online booking portal that doesn't require any membership fees, so that both you (the guest) and your host do not have to pay anything extra. To ensure that the online booking platform is legitimate, see if all the holiday rentals in their listing have actual photos. There should also be comprehensive descriptions of the properties as well as a complete listing of amenities are there. Lastly, each page should also display comments or feedbacks from their previous guests.
