Tips to Save on Holidays!

Holidays are the best time to travel and make merry with family and friends, if combined with smart choices can help us in making huge savings. Intelligent choices of booking cheap tickets and considering the day, time and season for reservations is truly awarding. Tracking the trends in booking and knowing the accurate time to book the tickets for holidays, assists in financial benefits/saving. In the era of technological advancements, searching and comparing the cheapest air fares online has become an easier task.

Holiday season normally comprises of Thank Giving, Christmas Eve, New Year, spring, Summer Vacations and planned holidays to take a break from the monotonous professional and personal life.

It blows off your budget, when you book your flights last minute or one week before the flight; and normally airlines don't reduce their air fares too early as well. The best time to start planning for your much awaited holiday is three months before the vacation, if flying to a splendid international destination or six weeks if going to a domestic serene place. Start by registering yourself for newsletters and email alerts of various airlines and online travel agencies to be updated on the latest discounted deals and offers. Next would be to browse the sites of numerous reliable travel portals to shortlist all the cheap flights to your desired destination. Compare all the flights and settle down on the most suitable for you.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best days to travel to make huge savings to avoid surcharge on airfares levied by various airlines on weekends. Early morning and overnight flights are the best ones to save more on your holidays. Comparison can be made between direct and connecting flights to make your air travel more economical. It has been observed that the best time to reserve cheapest tickets is near noon time on Tuesdays.

During Christmas, the best time to travel to save money is to travel before mid December or after 1st three to four days of January when traffic gets reduced.

Quick Tips:

  • Don't forget to redeem your flier miles, if you have.
  • Compare connecting flights and nonstop flights.
  • Be flexible about day and time to travel.
  • Decide the destination to be visited intelligently.

Reject both the options: Too early, too late. Book your air tickets 49 days in advance to grab the cheapest air fare.
