Tips To Spend Your Patagonia Camp Torres Del Paine the Best Way

Instead of rushing off on the W hike or the O trip in Patagonia on arrival in Chile, it is better to become organized and prepare for the camping trip to the Torres del Paine and thus get much more out of it. Here are a few tips. The O Patagonia trip is recommended for those who love camping.

Organize

Most tourists find it convenient to join a W trek in Patagonia and join the tour at Puerto Natales. Before setting out it is better to become organized for the Patagonia camp Torres Del Paine stay. This means buying a strong but light backpack with a tent attachment and the tent and sleeping bag should also be lightweight. Pack a first aid kit and some light tools, a lighter, a torch and buy a raincoat, strong boots, sunglasses and woollens if you do not already have them. Do not omit a walking stick. It will come in handy on treks. If you join a tour then the tour operator should make arrangements to store all your luggage safely while you set out to Torres Del Paine.

Have cash in hand

Once inside Torres Del Paine there is plenty to do such as a boat ride from Pudeto to Paine Grande but it costs money so it is better to have Chilean pesos in hand. The boat to Lago Grey Pier to visit Refugio Grey is also expensive and one must pay in cash.

Campsites

There are free campsites with just the basic amenities like a toilet and a place to cook and water supply. Paid campsites have better facilities. It is better to reserve in advance to avoid disappointments since the campsites can be full during high season. It pays to follow a few rules such as not to leave behind any garbage and to wash dishes away from the stream. Open fires are not allowed inside campsites and one must use cooking shelters so pick campsites that have such cooking facilities. A Refugio offers more facilities but that does take away a bit from the camping experience.

Consider the weather

It can rain and snow inside the Torres del Paine and the Sun can shine brightly at times so it is best to go prepared for virtually any eventuality. Always wear full length thermals even while trekking.

Foods

Buy ready to eat packaged, highly nutritious dehydrated foods or instant foods that can be prepared over a campfire or by the simple addition of hot water. Pack in some chocoate and alcohol too. A pack of dry fruits is also recommended. High protein ready to eat foods are recommended. Keep a bottle of water handy. It can be empty but it does not matter because you will come across freshwater streams while hiking.

It is better to go prepared and not rush off straightway on the Patagonia camp Torres del Paine trip, possibly with the help of a local tour operator. That way you will have a more enjoyable experience.
