Inca is a city located in the heart of the Mediterranean island of Mallorca. Inca offers a wealth of cultural heritage and scenic nature to explore and indulge in. Inca is located in the most contrasting region of Mallorca, the el Raiguer region between the UNESCO protected Tramuntana mountains and the flat rural countryside.
Mallorca is a true paradise; the island here in the centre of the Mediterranean region is among the most popular holiday destinations in all of Europe, especially during the summertime. Last year, more than 12 million tourists went to Mallorca to feel the mild and warm climate fill their mind and bodies with pure serenity.
However, most tourists are so hyped on beaching (understandable) that they forget that they are visiting one of the most historic locations in the Mediterranean area. Let's not forget, that any interesting culture has a rich history behind it. History is what makes us what we are and partly who we are. The same goes for areas such as Inca on Mallorca, a city that has been center of many historical events.
Two restaurants in Inca you must try and cannot afford to miss
These two restaurants, manifests the rich agricultural traditions the local area of Inca is truly made up of. This is where you feel the past with a twist of the future, but never leaves the pleasure of the presence.
Celler Ca'n Ripoll
Ca'n Ripoll, is situated in an old wine cellar in a former medieval manor house in the heart of Inca. As you sit down, you notice the original old wine barrels and wooden beams giving the white painted ceiling an authentic contrast. This unique combination of white walls and brown oak, leaves the room with a very exclusive and authentic feeling. The menu-card, is the same whether you visit for lunch or supper. My personal recommendation is the freshly butchered duck in porto vino sauce. The duck is butchered when you place the order, and it takes about a half an hour before the plate arrives at your table, but I promise you it's worth waiting for! Never have I tasted something this tender, especially not duck meat, the meat almost falls off the bones as you poke it with your fork, delicious.
Celler Ca'n Amer
Ca'n Amer is another old wine cellar situated in the heart of Inca, not far from the parish church of Santa Maria. The recommendation here, is the chef's personal take on the traditional almond soup with a twist of fresh olive oil. Mallorca is famous for its production of both almonds and olive oil, and not trying these two delicacies here is a sin.
