Visiting New York At Christmas Time

New York is one of the world's top travel destinations and is beautiful all year round. In spring, the NYC flowers bloom bright in various colours of pink, red, orange, lavender, yellow and white and come summer, Central Park comes alive with its fun outdoor attractions. In autumn, the city's natural beauty outshines and you can see the changing colours when the trees shed their leaves. At Christmas time in the winter, New York is especially admirable with its dazzling city lights, cold winter air and seasonal hot drinks – there is honestly no better place to be for the festive period. We've seen the city feature in so many movies that it's almost like we have already experienced it, but nothing can quite compare to witnessing the Big Apple in real life at Christmas time!

Beyond Magical

New York City goes all out when it comes to Christmas with many beloved festive traditions to enjoy. The gigantic Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is one of the city's top eye-catchers with thousands of lights illuminating the area alongside other glittering Christmas trees that line the promenade. There are also fascinating displays in department store windows along Fifth Avenue, and shopping malls and streets come alive with over-the-top lights and decorations, especially Macy's which was featured in Miracle on 34th Street. Traveasy offers cheap tickets to New York from the UK, transporting you to this magical city.

Festive Fun

There are so many exciting and themed activities to enjoy in New York during the festive period; the most popular of all is of course the ice-skating rink in Central Park. We've all seen it in the movies, but experiencing it for real makes for an unforgettable and romantic experience. Visitors can also go to see the wonderful Nutcracker production performed by the New York City Ballet and really get into the festive spirit.

Another classic New York attraction in December is the Gingerbread Boulevard in Madison Square Park. Take a stroll down here and witness life size gingerbread houses decorated with all sorts of colourful candy – you'll feel like you've entered a scene from Hansel and Gretel! Traveasy offers cheap flight to New York from UK, transporting you to this alluring winter wonderland.

The Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park is a fantastic open-air village and Christmas Market in the heart of Manhattan which is well worth a visit. There are rows of shops selling all sorts of unique gifts, souvenirs, jewellery, decor, clothing and seasonal foods and treats at the food kiosks including mulled cider and chocolate-covered waffles.

Book Early!

Christmas is obviously quite a peak time to visit New York, but there are so many hotels across the city that offer Christmas travel deals, all competing with one another. Just make sure you plan in advance to secure your hotel rooms, restaurant table reservations and major tickets to various popular attractions.
